What are you working on today?

Trying to keep the engine clean. I don't like dirty motors. It must be an OCD thing. I see dirty engines and I think travesty!

I have 86,000 miles on these tires and suspension. Fox recommends rebuilding suspension at 50,000 so its time. I will buy what I need and rebuild them. Gotta do that before the new meats.

I used Klasse on the barrels of the wheels as a sealant to prevent dirt build up. Side note: picked up that Honda Inverter generator 2800 for $450.

Sweet, well taken care of toys.
Im paranoid about moisture under the hood corroding electronics after having a wiring harness turn green and go bad on me, I should probably go back to some underhood cleaning.

This engine just gets wiped. I haven't hosed this one down yet. Considering it has 110,000 on it its pretty clean. The other trucks get the engines hosed down pretty frequent. I try to keep up on it. If you use Dawn and a parts brush or brush for painting you normally do a pretty decent job of getting most of the crud off.

2006 Corolla:
Pulled the front wheels off to check the front brakes.
After over 25 thousand miles, 4mm average material left on......probably change out next Summer.
Re-lubed caliper pins, cleaned / lubed front abutment clips.
Checked front rotors.......I had Wagner Coated Rotors on when I did the brake job.
Not happy with the rotors.......already, the painted area around the circumference of the Rotor is already rusted. The painted “hat” did survive......Welcome to Long Island Winters!

Today I finished a rust repair on 2006 Corolla on a section about the size of your fist. That was due to some old bad body work where the paint had cracked. Rust and filler, I suspect they just dimpled the steel and filled with Bondo. After chipping out the old paint there was rust underneath, used a wire wheel on the cordless drill to get rid of scale. Then painted with 4-5 coats of Corroseal rust neutralizer followed by 4 coats of Dupli-Color 2-in-1 primer filler that try as I might, could not fill the wound to quite the same height as original paint. I masked it to about 6” square area for the primed area, then used Dupli-Color color matched paint which looks OK for AutoZone aerosal cans. The body shop paint was very weathered and chalky so I had to paint a lot more. Then spray clearcoat. Frankly it looks like a repair the car owner did it but it’s respectable looking of what was quite an eyesore. The main objective was to repair the rust and make sure it won’t rust through.

Got a new machine to help with the Gravel project.

Got move 20-30 tons, to old to push a wheelbarrow 3000 times up a hill, the area's too small for a tractor and ground is delicate in places. (have to cross grass to get to the back side of the house.

Its awkward at first then once you learn how to balance it, easy install! I actually put all mine on without help.
Yeah I have no help!

I know exactly what you mean. Started with the front RF and frankly took me a while...........thinking this isn't any easier............but my back was not being strained. I kept getting the angle wrong and banging into the rotor cover from behind. Then on.........the next was RR, instant, LR instant..........LF last.......and it was fairly quick. Worth $100 to me! (should be $50 though!!!)

I will be putting new rear pads and rotors on my 2006 Accord today. It has 180k miles, this is the third time they've needed replacement. Parts are Raybestos Element3, $65 for everything delivered from Rock Auto. Even the "good" rotors are so inexpensive I just change 'em if I'm doing pads.

Since hearing good reviews on the Turtle Wax Seal N Shine -- picked up a bottle this week. I have Collinite 845 on now but wanted an in between application before I use Collonite 476 for winter time. Very much pleased how it applied and looks overall -- simple is good!!! ;)

Washed 3 vehicles yesterday, Tundra, Camry and the Tacoma. The summers are brutal combined with the rain. I hear Collinite is good stuff. I use the Optimum line of products for cleaning and spray wax. I actually used the same bucket of Optimum No Rinse for all 3 vehicles. My wife is freaking out on the last vehicle with the dirty water. I say, naww, dirty is good with Optimum No Rinse. I actually had a professional detailer tell me to use the used Optimum in the windshield washer reservoir running it through a coffee filter.

Today I did 2 things.

Drained and filled the power steering front axle fluid of the Kubota diesel tractor. I knew I would find a use for that unlicensed Mercon V "compatible" (?) fluid that was so cheap on Amazon last week.

Changed the oil on the 2006 Corolla LE. Now I will purchase (1) jug of Quaker State 5W-30 to restock the oil I poured in, since it's on sale for $14,67 each.
