What are you working on today?

Changed the brakes on my daughters Sportage. Went with Powerstop Evolution Z17 ceramic pads and Raybestos Element3 rotors all the way around. It has 77,000 miles on it and the fronts has a couple mm left, the rears probably could have went another 50,000 miles easily, but I changed them anyway.

Oil change, tire rotation, and a quick wash on my Daughter’s Mazda 3.
Next up, working on one of those German beers that I bought yesterday. 👍 🍻

Now, those Mazdas of that generation I love. Is that a 2 or 2.5 or 3 ton Jack? Thanks
The jack is a 3 ton Pittsburgh from HF. It works well for the things I do around the house.
The jack stands are 3 ton in the front and 2-1/4 ton (old Craftsman stands) holding up the rear, which is more than adequate for this car.
Yeah, my Daughter loves this little car. She has always kept up with maintenance schedules and let me know when it’s time.
The 2.0l’s in these cars are fairly bulletproof with normal maintenance, that’s one thing I really like about it. Even though it’s not a rocket by any means, it’s a fun little car to drive.

I'm really enjoying the posts about the work you're doing on this car. Keep it up, she's worth it. She's past being a beater now, she's a fun little project. Now you also have an excuse to buy more tools and equipment. (He who dies with the most tools wins!)
(y) 🍻

Thanks Hemi!

Got alot of work to do, just on the rockers alone! Afterwards I've got to prep the entire car for paint. The entire suspension is also gonna get a refresh. This sounds really dumb on something that isn't worth much or a "classic" but it's a car of my teenage years. Even helped replace the engine on it back when I was 16 after the previous owners ex-husband sabotaged it. That's a story in itself...

Swapped out the heater core and heater hoses on the F150. Man those hoses were filled with rust/crude (original hoses). Now I'm ordering new upper/lower/bypass hoses and t-stat just to do all of them. To quote a tee shirt "OBS trucks- easy on the eyes, hard on the wallet".

Thanks Hemi!

I don’t believe there’s anything dumb about it at all if you’ve got the time, money, and desire to do it.
Sentimental value is just as important when it comes to a lot of automobiles regardless of what anyone else thinks about it. I look forward to your progress.
Keep on keeping on. Cheers! 🍻

2000 Camry with the 4 cylinder engine. Removed the throttle body to clean it and the IAC out. Took forever to clean everything out. Annoying to have coolant lines on the IAC. M5 Philips head screws rusted into the throttle body. Eventually got it out. Replaced with stainless steel Allen drive bolts.

Changed the (moog) outer tie rods, front/rear swaybar bushings, rear endlinks, tranny D & F will dw1 on my 2005 honda crv.

Steering feels tight, got rid of the clunks.

Doing oil pan on a 2019 Grand Caravan. Thanks to the “iffy lube” place for rounding off the drain plug 🤬🤬
Been there . Not drain plug , no oil poured in . Luckily I checked it at a parking lot about 5 miles from the oil change chain . Bought 4 quarts of PENNZOIL conventional 5w-30 at SEARS Automotive center and topped it off . Did use SLICK 50 every 25,000 miles . Maybe that prevented damage . Car went to 260,000+ miles . Notified shop and gave free O.C.. Not sure if I followed up with it .

Speaking of beers, the Pop's Garage thing on the wall in the first image, it looks like a Foster's Beer logo.
It is the Fosters beer logo, my Daughter made it for me. I always have some Fosters on hand in my beer fridge, along with several other brands and types of beer. If you look above the window, you'll see a Fosters can as well. 🍻
