What are you working on today?

Last time I tried that trick with the Samurai I ended up on the side of the road with a split hose.
Also the Magnums can weep a deceivingly large amount from the timing cover. Antifreeze is weird 'cause it does kinda "just vanish" and if you're not religious about checking the radiator you can find yourself down a gallon.

The infamous bypass hose? This is a 3.9 or 5.2 I ASSume?

Watch that timing cover, they LOVE to leak coolant on the L&R of the wp
3.9L good to know it's status LOL. The timing chain is making a lot of noise, should just tear it all apart and replace everything.

The phone call would go like this.. Hey BIL remember you said you had a flat bed trailer? Yeah I need to use it. lol

2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 5.3 Vortec V8
Replaced cylinder 8 exhaust valve spring, changed oil

1993 GMC Sierra 1500 2wd
Pulled transmission, have a good used unit ready to install tomorrow. I've already drained it and replaced the filter, pan gasket, tailshaft seal and front seal.

Hopefully it wouldn't be to haul the truck to the wrecking yard because of getting the motor cherry hot. I had to scrap my nephew's car last year after he blew a heater hose on the interstate. I never saw an aluminum head with more than 50 thousandths of warping in both directions before.

That's nearly 1/16th! That'd be visible to the naked eye!

Nah thinking a 6.0 LS swap, that would be hoot to drive. When I get the F150 next year that might be on of the first projects anyways. Wow that's impressive, every light on the dash must of been on!

You get extra points for stubbing in water pressure gauges on the filters. Are those sediment or sediment/carbon?
one is sediment only, and the other is sediment/carbon. i didn’t want to zap all of the chlorine to avoid growth in toilets/shower. stubbed the gauges in to see dP to determine replacement schedule. these are supposedly lead free brass gauges safe for potable water.

Replaced valve cover gaskets on '98 Ram 1500 5.2

A ring terminal broke off a heavy-ish gauge ground, so I pulled out my import crimper for the first time in a long time, selected the incorrect die set and did the worst, flattest crush ‐ er I mean crimp - you've ever seen.

Eh, it's a ground. It'll work

Finished up a new timing belt, water pump re & re, battery replacement, oil/filter change, and new front brakes on a V6 Honda Accord owned by my best friend. I started it yesterday, finished this morning.
Next is oil changes on 2 Kias, a Seltos, and a Sportage.
Then the Kenworth T800 that needs a full service, should be back from its run, and I will service it.

Tell me about it! I'm stuck home sick with the flu for the last 10 days. Get me out of here! I'm long past contagious but no one wants to be around all this coughing and sniffling.
So I walked the garbage can and then the wagon with recycling bins down our road to the farm road. Super bright and sun feels warming. My reward- the reflection is so strong I am temporarily sun blinded

Oil change on '08 Range Rover Sport. I was leary when these people bought this thing. Today I see the front dynamic sway bar thingie-majig kanooter valve leaking fluid.

The interweb suggests $1200+ for the part and 3 to 8 hours labor -- depending on who you believe -- and much of this was posted ~14 years ago.

I know you're thinking antifreeze, but it's not:

It's leaking right here where the sway enters the right side of the magic box of magicness:

The family just got some terrible health news and I'm not even sure what to tell them about this. Only 126k mi on the vehicle. This is where I wanna do a Car Wizard-esque rant about unnecessary, expensive features

I wonder if I can summon @GMBoy for insight....

Barely one year old (JCI/Clarios?) battery died 🙄
After ~48 hours on the fancy 7 step healing charger, I called it 💀

Off to Costco (my first warranty under their new prorated policy)
They gave me $83 off the current $124 price of a 24F
Plus core charge and tax AGAIN 🙄
So 11 months into ownership, it cost me $44.28 to replace
So be it 😤
This time around, there was two styles on the shelf
This (JCI/Clarios?) style, and a newer rounded edge job with built in handle
I don't know who makes it, but it says Made in Korea 🇰🇷

Into the Camry it went
Hopefully it lasts longer than 11 months 😔
