What are you working on today?

'98 CRV: oil change, diagnosed bad right front wheel bearing

'02 Trailblazer: oil change and cleaned throttle body

'03 motorhome on GM van chassis: genny remote start inop. Found corroded butt connector underneath and replaced. The (extremely low) build quality of coaches never ceases to amaze me and the wiring always looks like it was completed by a 12-year-old

New hood hinges, radiator, hoses, air tank, brakes, wheel seals, differential fluid replacement, transmission fluid replacement, engine oil replacement, new fuel filters, new coolant filter and new coolant, on a 2016 Kenworth T800 tri drive.

Didn't have time today to get the tri axle belly dump its hooked to, which also needs new brakes, a broken light replaced, some welding done on it, and split them apart, grease the 5th wheel and reconnect them, and get it out of my shop.
Now I need to sit and rest, my back , knee, and shoulder are killing me.

Bought some cheapie jacking casters from Amazon. Junk and almost useless. Wheels too small and 1/8” jacking a joke.

I added 3” wheels, enlarged holes, etc

Ended up getting the 13 Ram back this morning from the truck shop. They were able to weld bolts and nuts to the broken bolts in the heads and get them backed out. I installed the manifolds, gaskets, new bolts, inner fenders and front wheels and changed the oil. While I was waiting for the truck this morning I piddled around with a 1996 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, replacing the headlights, marker lights, parking lights, grill, tail lights and third brake light with new ones. All had become hazy and discolored.

Today at work 2001 Camry third day in a row it’s back. Guy brought in for oil change Monday. Lube guys done oil change and multipoint inspection Monday. Guy requests O’Reilly 5W-30 oil because he likes O’Reilly best ok we tell him no problem there will be a slight delay. So we got the oil Monday pour it in and give the remainder back to the customer well apparently he wanted high mileage and didn’t specify and states tht it should have been obvious with the miles on the car and oil leak. So he comes back next day. We put the high mileage O’Reilly oil in. Guy complains again because it’s not full synthetic high mileage oil so he comes back today right as we open and demands his car be fixed pronto because he is late for work three days in a row. I didn’t even have time to hardly clock in before my boss was over asking if i could do a quick drain and fill on it for the third time. O’Reilly luckily opens at 7:30 and is less than a mile away brought the oil and I got to work. This time we put the O’Reilly High Mileage Full Synthetic oil in it and the customer finally got the one he wanted. And yes we charged him for all the oil. I hate customers who give attitude when they don’t have a reason too. A lot of people that come in won’t pay extra for high mileage oil so we stopped carrying it. We used to carry Pennzoil and Mobil 1 High Mileage stuff but no one would pay extra for it. It was fine this guy wanted a certain brand but he should of specified the one he wanted first and not say well you should know with that many miles on it. Also done a flat repair and a misfire diagnosis on an old Sequoia. It needs plugs I swapped a couple and the misfire moved. I hope it’s not the one you have to lower the engine to get to the back one. If it is I can do it just I like nice and easy spark plug jobs haha.

If he wants a specific oil, why not bring it with him.

On top of working on my own trucks, we work on some other people's trucks at all 4 shops. If they want a special oil then they have to bring it, or else use my oil.

Ditto here. I tell people they're going to get a high quality something from my stash. I'll try to accommodate general brand requests if I have it. If they want something very specific they have to furnish it themselves.

I'm off but I actually put a couple of hours in at work. My son has school and he's home, but I want to cut the lawn. First one since knowing about the Honda mower fiasco (Should be OK it's been in service 1 1/2 years).

After that my boy and I will repeat again....swimming and karate. Yesterday had a slight addition to the plans: swimming, karate, urgent care (all was fine)

Ashamed to say it took me over four hours just to pull this radiator from a '14 KL Cherokee.

Then again I'm notoriously slow and was taking my time, no sense of urgency at all.

So far the replacement Nissens has not impressed me as it came without one lower locating peg. I can swap over an OEM peg but it doesn't "click" in like it should due to a variation in the mold.

Also, if anyone reading this has a ballpark fair labor time for rad R&R on a KL I'd love to hear it -- I can't charge the customer for my bumbling incompetence.

This morning I put the 88 Sierra back on the lift to replace the rear main seal as preventative maintenance since the transmission is out. I also disconnected the transmission lines from the radiator and flushed them, flushed the cooler in the radiator, and reinstalled the lines. This afternoon I pulled a 283 small block Chevy out of a crustbucket 1961 Chevy Impala 4 door hardtop, which unfortunately is too far gone to save. The engine runs nicely though so it's getting saved.
