What are you working on today?

Worked on some of the Cali cousins electrical issues. One switch was wired wrong, another switch the ground was touching the traveler.. on top of that the thermal cutoff was bad in the light. That was a adventure. Changed out another switch and tried to figure out a couple switches that are off, not sure on that but looks like the feed is broke somewhere. In between we concreted some posts and out in a gate. Haven't worked that hard in a while 😂

Finished the rear differential replacement on the 01 Ranger. New wheel cylinders and brake shoes, turned drums, new pinion seal, changed over the parking brake cables, sucked the oil out of the junkyard unit and filled with fresh, then changed the engine oil.

2013 Ram 1500 with a 5.7 hemi, started pulling the exhaust manifolds for them to be surfaced, and to replace the broken rear bolts. Had to have one of the big truck shop guys come torch the manifold flange bolts loose, couldn't get the torches in my work area to light off. 😒

I realize you're not soliciting for advice here.....But surfacing Iron Manifolds is a fools errand. I guarantee if you heated those manifold up (Evenly)....They would straighten out. After surfacing, They now twist when hot & likely bust/crack after a few heat cycles.

Really busy at work with simple stuff but that’s what we had come in so that’s what we do. Got home and had to go fix the a/c compressor clutch on dads truck. I knelt on the tire the whole time now my knees are killing me. We were there about 3 hours because the pulley was seized finally got it off. Now time to go to bed I’m worn out.

You better get good knee pads and get really serious about using them or else in about 40 years you will really be paying for it.

Received in mail 50 new Hyundai/Kia clips to replace all the wheel liner, bumper, and other misc clips with new tight ones.
But since I was removing all the clips I decided just to remove the bumper to clean all areas behind it and the A/C radiator and main cooling radiator with the foam canon and dawn on max foam. I was surprised at the amount of debris that was caught or settled on the bottom third of the radiators, near completely blocked.
The A/C works SO much better... im "blown" away!

Desperate so I had to go to Pirate Ship- no monthly fee and it worked- a blessing in disguise.
However, none of these can hold a candle to stamps.com although I am fed up with their crappy software.
It has sucked for over a decade. but you just can't beat cutting and pasting and zipping the address in a box.
Plus, you don't have to keep filling out nonsense. Jimmy ready for a stroke

If it helps anyone the 64 bit version on stamp.com is the issue.
It will not be fixed anytime soon I just heard.
Download the 32 bit and you will have no issues.

Amazingly WEIRD. This 64Bit one is working great for me.

What is stamps telling you???
Told me they are having issues with 64 bit and it won't be resolved for a long time.
32 bit solved the issues.
I told them why not put this on your website because you wasted three days of my time...
Good idea she says........... ugh.
I could hang with Pirate Ship, but it takes double the time.... but no fees..
I did ship 3 lbs. from MD to IL the cubic rate with a $100 insurance for $6.88 and it is a 3 day delivery.
pretty good but their pasting setup isn't perfect, and you have to click boxes....
If you ship one or two a day- great. 30 pcs in a few hours- not so great but they saved the day.

I wonder if their programming team knows a CS agent is telling the public that? 'Cause sounds like BS to me. When me and my ex biz partner on separate platforms are having no issues. Hmmmm

If 32 bit works, why even such a thing needs 64bit. It's not graphics intensive and math is look up tables and such.

Well hope all is well.

I decided to assemble my supplied Bosch table saw stand and use my current stand for my router table.

Totally agree...
I came from a calm spell and then I had a month's work in 3 days which I can handle but this
shipping thing put me in stress overload.
Pirate ship is doing better for domestic... I am getting used to it and I may dump stamps.com
If you haven't tried give it a spin.. very simple-takes 2 minutes and you can link PayPal as your default payment method.
Saves a what $20 + bill a month... Stamps.com Lady told me they run Ship Station and that sucker was messed up too.
Could be a East-West thing too

Spinning parts today in a human sweat hole............ But happy nevertheless.

Installed an Ultra gauge and Carplay screen today in my GX 460. I'm not really satisfied with the mounting but it will do for now.

I also want to monitor the coolant and trans temperatures because of potentional radiator, water pump, or valley plate coolant leaks. This is the hazards of buying a low mileage 13 year old vehicle, but its cheap insurance as well. The alarm feature had me instantly sold. I wish I bought one sooner. I plan on replacing the entire cooling system and redo the valley plate in the next 12-24 months.

I've honestly never had issues with surfaced iron manifolds, but what you're saying makes sense. It's now a moot point though. I got the manifolds removed and they look awfully new for a truck with 170k miles.... someone replaced them already. Unfortunately they did NOT previously replace the broken bolts 😳 the five broken bolts have evidence of drilling attempts. I was going to try my hand at extracting them but they are beyond my skills with drill bits and tight spaces...I've turned this one over to the big truck shop as to not further complicate things. I might get it back for reassembly later in the week.

Upon turning the bolt extraction over to the truck shop, I moved on to something more in line with my skill set. I removed the transmission from a 1988 GMC Sierra 1500 2wd for rebuild. It's already been delivered to the transmission shop. I ended the day by pressure washing a couple of service trucks that were returned covered in mud, as in practically painted with it. My buddy has not been a happy camper today.

Working through mild panics in the new-to-us home. Crawlspace humidity has been between 77 and 97%. Ordered a dehumidifier. Crawled under tonight and installed a gfci outlet for it. Found the ducts dripping water and the sump pump (dry/damp) in a million exploded pieces. Found white mold in a few places. a friend (previous mens pastor) settled me down and I ordered a replacement sump pump and schooled me on shower pan construction.

happy with the quad box, gfci, which I had 90% of the parts already for.

Today I put an a/c clutch on my uncle's suburban, the rubber broke and then melted on the old clutch. The new clutch, once installed, made horrible grinding noises when engaged. The clearances were correct, so we were about to start tearing the compressor off when the grinding suddenly stopped. I guess the clutch faces just needed to wear in. Uncle's on his way home now, I hope the grinding stays gone
