What are you working on today?

Last night, a friend wanted me to adjust his wheel bearings once more. Found this when I looked at the brakes. He’s got a set of Wagner ThermoQuiet semi-metallic on the way, the same pads I installed 5 years ago for a pad slap this coming weekend. I don’t feel like replacing and repacking tapered bearings. 1999 Explorer.

Today in class we done oxygen sensors on several different vehicles and spark tests. And talked about how they work and oxygen sensors spacers. Also learned why we should use copper anti seize on one oxygen sensors since we had to get a seized on out. I already knew most of it but was good to have a refresher.

Using the off-season for some maintenance & other details on the dirt bikes:
WR450F: lubed clutch cable, fabricated custom guard for exposed radiator hose, cut hole in skid plate for quick oil drains, new tires, added coolant recovery bottle (not necessary I guess, but I like it a lot).
XR400R: lubed all cables, lubed steering head bearings, changed fork oil (way overdue lol), replaced wheel bearings, replaced fork bellows, carb disassembly/cleaning, other small parts replaced.

Has anyone seen a slow jet broken like this? The piece was nowhere to be found, probably dumped last time I removed the plug on the carb bowl:

I had found the O2 sensor in my Trailblazer getting a little lazy this past year. Tried a few times but was not able to remove it. Did not have time to torch it out, so it sat.

Noticed lately that my fuel mileage was wetting worse and found the sensor was stalling out. Took it to a local shop where they had to use the torch to remove it. Best hour of shop labor I ever spent.

Hope they put anti seize on it lol. Had to do one the other day as you probably seen.

I am in Arlington, TX until Saturday helping my niece with a family issue.
Did a quickie oil service on her '15 Odyssey and her daughter's '16 Corolla. I left the filters for next time.
Had to pick up a Harbor Freight floor jack and a few tools. Good ol' Kirkland 0w20 for the win!
I did bring 2 crusher warshers from home; a Honda and a Toyota.

Picked up a new tv for them at Costco. Removed the 14 year old Visio from the wall.
Luckily the new one will not go back on the wall!

Gonna pick up some Costco flashlights.
Next time I come it might be trans services and front brakes...

Wendy is raising 2 sets of twin girls on her own as my nephew died unexpectedly 7 years ago.
All good.

Double sets of twins!? My goodness. She must be a saint.

It's still unseasonably cold here - no voluntary auto maintenance or repairs happening for a few weeks.

I can hear a wheel bearing on the way out on our '09 Mazda. Hoping it hangs on until Spring.

Well I want planning on working on anything to be quite honest. It was supposed to warm up but it was -38c this morning and my lone operational vehicle failed to start. Plugged in but forgot thr battery tender. Had to throw the charger on it and it was like starting an old carbed truck. Barely and i mean barely got it to fire.

While my Trailblazer was charging I couldn't get my 1993 c1500 to start. Battery frozen and I almost snapped the key off turning the ignition.

My 3500 has 40km left before the def countdown shuts it out completely.

Waiting for this global warming to sort this sht out by now.

I felt your pain in the winter of 2017 into 2018 when we hit -15F. Not a lot of any work was done either

Well wasn’t planning on doing much since I didn’t get any road calls. But when we were leaving to go to the gas station the Escape kept emitting the traction control light and jerking to the left so here I am in the pouring cold rain trying to figure out the issue. My guess is the wheel speed sensor or bearing has gone bad.

But it's a dry cold, right? 🤪

Wow, you guys in the province that's easy to draw but hard to spell are really getting hammered. Whereabouts in Saskatchewan are you?

I did Grades 4 through 7 in Regina. That was long enough ago that I was there when the Riders won their first Grey Cup. Huge green headline in the Leader-Post, back when newspapers were B&W except for the Saturday comics.

Sandblasted and painted a pair of Chevrolet rams horn exhaust manifolds for a 70 C10. Was supposed to have an F150 in for a starter, but the guy didn't show. Just as well, I didn't feel like rolling under his truck today anyway.
