What are you working on today?

I'm very engaged in this.. Ok so, this Is DIFY in 5 minutes vs DIY and getting yelled at by my HOA plus "I SMELL GAS!" so. I'm running the tank out of fuel and bringing it by my shop whe they have a lift available.

As to app.. I paid $5 for Torque Pro and now I'm just discovering what it can do. Seems it can do a lot except tell me if it is in Closed or Open loop..

Is FORScan free? Used on a phone? I don't have just the Ford.

It looks SO much better washed and clean, though. Was rough there for some months.

2022 VW TAOS SUV With 1.5 engine

Some total moron at location in Georgia overfilled oil, claimed he did oil change on the vehicle. Didn’t even touch the filter or oil.

Called VW dealer we use and put exact, correct oil amount in engine along with WIX WL-7503 spin on filter. No more “oil level exceeded” warning 🎊🎉

Boss was praising me rest of day. My job is done 😍😍😍

PS: factory filter made in Turkey but possibly wire backed. Will cut and post it very soon.

Got pics of the completed decals today. Very happy with them

Kinda interesting stuff today lol. RAV4 came in for an oil change, rotate the basics you know. So I am getting in this car with a gray interior and I look and the passenger seat is covered in blood and it’s wet and smells bad I’m like uhhh…. So I go tell the service advisor and the service advisor talks to the customer finds out the lady just had a baby in the car on Saturday on the way to the hospital. I’m like uhhh do I have to service this vehicle? So customer is like well can you price me a new seat so we did and sold it luckily. So I already have the seat out and the used seat will arrive from the junkyard tomorrow. I used extra caution touching the seat who brings their car in like that ewww. Could have at least put a seat cover on it lol. Customer said her husband told her the stain would go away as the sun would fade it and the smell would go away when it gets hot in the vehicle I’m like I think your husband is misinformed lady. And done tires and a few other things too lol. That’s probably the worst smell I’ve smelt though.

Better man than me....I can't do bodily fluids! Would've recommended a Gas Can & a Match!

Set-up a 9" Ford 3rd Member.....4.11 gears, Full Spool, Nodular Iron Case, Daytona Pinion Support.
Gears called for a 1.033" Pinion Depth, Got it too 1.034".....Set Backlash to .007"

Don't use my T&D Machine Pinion Depth tool very often, But it sure saves time when you're assembling a bunch of aftermarket parts!

Replacing the Bosch Denoxtronic 2.2 DEF doser module on a Freightliner w/ Cummins ISB 6.7L.

Protip: The DEF doser is cheaper when parting it from Bosch instead from Cummins. The gasket is Cummins specific to the decomposition tube it goes on so you need the ESN for the correct gasket.

Also Milton digital and pen style tire pressure gauges. Tested them both and they come up .5 of each other.

Cleaned mating surface on decomp tube, inserting the isolator gasket first than the steel gasket. Cleaned the surface as much as possible (rusted part is the non-gasketed area) and cleaned out all DEF deposits in the opening.

New doser installed with DEF and coolant lines attached.

HID ballast died due to water intrusion. I spent the weekend taking apart the lamp assembly - it was a pain to get the old butyl off. Used OE Toyota ballast arrived yesterday. Laid down some fresh butyl - I used 3M Window-Weld and Strip-Calk to bridge some gaps. Sanded and polished the inside to try to repair crazing, and used 3M Headlight Quick Coat on the outside.

Also took the Uber sled to America’s Tire for a rotate and balance as well as a trip to the local scratch and shine.

Today I'm cutting up a tree I dragged to the house last week. Was going to put it off until spring but the weather is nice today and I've got nothing else to do.

Dead slow day at the shop, but the new headlight assemblies for my recently traded for Camry arrived so I took the chance to throw them in along with a set of H4 LED bulbs. Yes, I know, reflector housings + crappy Amazon LED bulbs = glare and poor light output. While I can't do much about the beam pattern, I did take the time to do a rudimentary alignment of the new housings and made sure to aim them a little lower than normal.

Here in the city, light throw is less important than close up illumination. Out in my old lady's neck of the woods, I can just run the high beams due to the low volume of oncoming traffic. I know it's not the ideal setup, but for $100 total (bulbs and housings) I'm happy. H4 based headlights are arguably the worst OEM headlight design, known for being sub-par even when new.

Along with the lights, I threw on a new AC/ALT belt. The old part was severely cracked. I initially pulled up the part on Factory Motor Parts, and they wanted $25 for their HOUSE brand belt. WorldPac had a Mitsuboshi belt for $10 and change. Take a guess at which one I chose...

I'm jealous of those with WorldPac access 🥺

I had all those part numbers memorized when I worked at the dealer. The amount of emissions parts that went across the counter daily is unbelievable. Many of the Paccar and Cummins parts are exactly the same but on warranty work we couldn't substitute anything. Paccar had to go to Paccar and Cummins to Cummins.
