What are you eating right now?

Mine is not healthy. Even after the cancerous removal functions went up a bit and is now declining again, so I really have to be careful (no corn syrups, no hfcs, no beer, etc). I do a lot more organics than I ever did. Have a really good nephrologist that I can contact daily as we figure this out. Bad news is I am on a high prednisone dose to try to get the functions better, and that comes with its own risks. Am using insulin temporarily to block out the extra high glucose caused by the prednisone.

Cancer was trying to spread to my vena cava, which reduces chances of good recovery close to 50% less. So far no recurrence there. Finishing up a short radiation treatment (5 sessions) to kill one inch cancer spot on the lymph node closest to the removed kidney. Will know in three months or so if that treatment is effective.

Keep in mind I am age 75, and I am pretty sure you are much younger than me. You can see I have a pretty good amount of stuff going on now. On the other hand, all is survivable with proper care that I do receive.

Best decision was to find a really good nephrologist by accident and one of the best urologists in this area. No regrets there.

As an aside, my wife is first generation American with her relatives from Canada. Her Dad and Grandmother came to Kansas via Chicago and were naturalize US citizens. Several are in London, Toronto and some still live in Ridgetown. Another small group is out near Lethbridge. It has been a while, but we try to visit them and maintain contact with a couple of cousins near her age.
I’m sorry to hear about your health troubles 😥 I am 56 and I got real lucky that they caught my cancer when they did and it did not spread. And so far my remaining kidney is functioning perfectly. I also have an amazing urologist (who performed the surgery) and I also have a great nephrologist who is keeping an eye on me too.

I wish you all the best in your fight against cancer, it’s a nasty disease 🥺

thanks for your overall support. Overall I am doing fine with a few setbacks.

My family tends toward optimism and problem solving; my grandmother was widowed around age 40 with two kids to support. She pretty well for someone living in the Ozarks.

@Pablo: appreciate your support but "sad" is not exactly in my vocabulary!
