Getting ready to replace the front seats in my 2002 4Runner. Upon removing them, I notice this black button
and this black pouch. My replacement front seat doesn't have either. I could remove and replace but I really
don't know if that is necessary or what the heck they do?

It looks like a lumbar support switch and air bladder. The switch operates a small pump that fills or releases air from the bladder.

Is the pouch in the seat back or cushion? It looks like the cushion (lumbar would be in the back), so maybe a firmness adjustment.

It doesn't look like a heating element.

I believe the black button is for extending the seat to give more thigh support and there ought to be another button to the right of the turning knob for the bladder which I think is there to adjust lumbar support.

I have never known the black switch to do anything. I just don't wanna replace the seat and have some
crazy safety light pop up that I can't turn off. There is a 5 amp fuse in the line so something runs. I'm thinking
this must be to some kind of support. Either back or bottom???

Adjustable thigh support if it’s in the bottom cushion. Doesn’t your owner’s manual describe the function?

Don’t have owners manual. The round knob does the tilting of the cushion.

If it’s in the back cushion, it’s adjustable lumbar support. You can see the pneumatic line going into the bladder.

It sure ain’t in owners manual. My seat isn’t like the manual or power seat.
