What are Eco Boost owners using?

I try not to overthink the issue or get too cute with oil selection. I've used Mobil 1 AFE 0W30 in my 2011 Ford F150 Ecoboost for the last 2-3 years. My dad had a 2011 F150 Ecoboost and now a 2015 and he uses Pennzoil Platinum 5W30 or Mobil 1 5W30, whichever is on sale at the time. My brother uses Pennzoil Platinum 5W30 as well. None of us get UOAs but none of us have had problems as we change our oil regularly (two-three times a year, regardless of mileage). I figure we're doing better than 99% of owners who don't give it a second thought.

Those are just safe bet oils - (my eB & GDI oils too) a little boring to some at this stage but think
I'll run the misc stuff in the 5.3L or the hybrid Willy wonky stroke motor ...

QSUD 5w-20 in my 1.0 EcoBoost. Going to use Mobil 1 0w-20 AFE this winter. It meets the spec too.

Those two oil's ad packs are very different. Mobil uses heavy magnesium while shell uses only calcium, a strong dose at that.

I'd like to see a Mobil 1 0w-40 UOA

I'll try and get this sample sent out later this week after Turkey Day. They are getting pricey when the TBN is requested.

Well, I'm using Magnatec at the moment because I got a good deal, but back to maxlife next go around after seeing my UOA.
Are you doing a uoa on the Magnetech?

Has LSPI been addressed in another thread ? Chevron has done some work on it ...
Another thing - I thought Mobil 1 ESP went calcium, super low NOACK, and better HTHS to tolerate diluting - so what does this calcium subject mean relative to Ecoboost... using both ESP and PUP (both off Amazon) - did I pay too much for the wrong oils when Walmart base version of M1 & PP are fine???
Guess one would alternate chemistry rotating those two ...

Besides people throwing around their own theories without any substantial evidence or data.... absolutely nothing. Use an oil that meets Ford's spec and you'll be fine. Its all speculation. How much calcium is too much, does anyone actually know? If LSPI was that big of a deal for the ecoboosts Ford probably would have created a different spec for it. There are thousands of ecoboosts run on PP and M1 with no issues.

I would opine that if it weren't an issue, ILSAC GF-6 wouldn't be developing standardized tests to establish how motor-oil chemistry needs to change to address it. Until then, there have been a few studies pointing the finger towards Calcium. Chevron Ornite, SAE, and ILSAC to name a few. To your point, not every T-GDI is affected by LSPI. In fact, i doubt the majority are. I don't know of any Ford engine platform that is.

I have been running M1 5w30 the last two OCIs. With the PP rebate I'll likely switch to that for the next little while.

I find the standards and add pack discussions interesting. On the Focus ST forum there is a guy with ~ 300k miles on his 2013 ST, he has been doing changes with M1 EP 5W30 with 15k OCI for most of that time. I realize to get that kind of mileage the usage pattern is quite different from a commuter, but it's interesting nonetheless.

If you're talking about 5W30 ESP, the VOAs I have seen suggest that it only has calcium detergents at a low concentration...about the same as regular M1 5W30, which also has a dose of magnesium-based detergents. As a result, the ESP has a lower TBN and I would suspect it is not a great candidate for long OCIs.
I'm planning to run 5kmile intervals no matter what, so I'm planning to use M1 5W30 ESP as my warm weather oil, with EP as my winter fill...the ESP is a little too thick at cold for my tastes (I have to park outside on very cold winter nights when I ski and I want my car starting like a champ at 7am so I can beat the commuters to the hill).

Understand - I'm only doing 5k on the EB and that puts me on spring/fall cycle with good weather for oil change ...
Not testing - but again, the ESP starts with more HTHS ...

This is among the most uniformed analogy ever put forth on this site.
Actually it is not.

In my 2012 F150 EcoBoost, I used Motorcraft full synthetic 5w30 with okay results. After the warranty was up, I switched to Mobil 1 0w40 and got really good results, especially with the fuel dilution and staying in grade. OCI was 5k with Motorcraft filters.

For my new 2016 F150 3.5 EcoBoost, I dumped the factory fill at 2800 and used Mobil 1 5w30 EP with a Motorcraft FL500s filter. I will send a sample to Blackstone at the end of 5k on this OCI. Curious about the fuel dilution with the 5w30
