I have been using PG (propylene glycol) for 5 years, with one exception due to Auto Manufacturer threatening warranty denial if I did. This was caused by a neighbor's pooch going through a terrible death by EG (ethylene glycol)right in front of me. (It was not my antifreeze.)
Could someone tell me what additives are used in the PG products? (especially Sierra, about the only one (somewhat) available) I am worried about compatibility with aftermarket additives but the commonly used Coolants Compatibility Chart does not include PG based antifreezes. Please no lectures on aftermarket additives, I would appreciate just the facts of which additives are used.
I know that Amsoil PG uses a poly organic acid technology (POAT)Is POAT incompatible with the rest?

Amsoil's anti-freeze is compatible with nearly everything.

AMSOIL Antifreeze & Coolant is dyed neutral yellow and is compatible with all ethylene and propylene antifreeze and coolant formulations on the market, including DEX-Cool®, Sierra® and Zerex®. It is also compatible with fully formulated diesel anti-freezes and other organic acid technology (OAT) and hybrid organic acid technology (HOAT) formulations.

Check on the bottles of Prestone Low-Tox and the Sierra anti-freeze, it should say if it is compatible with others. Neither of the companies had any information on their websites, but an e-mail to Prestone or Sierra should verify that.

E-mail has not helped. Sierra dodged the question of which class of additives they use.

Took 4 e-mails, but got the Sierra Answer: conventional type coolant, no phosphorus, no SCA, 250 ppm of Silicates

You will not believe this, but the Prestone tech line just asked me what I meant by SCA, OAT, silicates....

Well, if you said "oat"(as in Quaker) ...I kinda found that funny when I first came here. OTOH if you said/asked OH-AYE-TEE ..then I'd still expect garbage because they didn't know the other two. HOAT, OAT, ..sounds like a breakfast cereal to me.

Sorry for a possible hi-jack here, but this is related.

Does anyone know if Prestone Low-Tox contains Potassium and/or Sodium? I'm a noob to coolant trying to learn.

I'm wondering because I had a UOA (6500mi) show 225ppm sodium and 79 ppm Potassium. Then I ran a short (1500mi) OCI and the UOA is showing no Potassuim and 47ppm Sodium. I ran Bars leak after the first UOA, and also changed out the coolant to Low Tox. Any ideas?

I email Prestone on the lowtox - I think it looped through honeywell first. The answer I got was low silicate formula and contains a pre-charge of SCA. No specific PPM numbers
