Let me start this by saying this is a keep us in your thoughts/prayers type post...

Why do things always have to happen in 3's?

all 3 of My Uncles have had health Concerns pop in in the last 24 hrs... each more serious than the next...

little background:
Mom is the Middle child of 3, Older brother, younger sister. her family Lives out west (ID, CO, etc) Historically both sides of my family are Church of the Brethren (Mom's Parents were Missionaries, and My Grandpa(her Dad) was also the Son of Minister.) This year the Church's Annual Conference is in Columbus, OH next Week. (only 100 mi away), and Mom's brother and Sister are coming up here for 4-5 days after the Conference.

Dad is a Local Boy. Has a Twin brother, and a younger Brother.

Last night, Mom, Dad, and I are watching Tv. Mom's cell phone Rings. it's her Brother, telling us that he may not be able to Come east for the conference, as he was thrown from a Horse that day. (Thankfully nothing broken, but extremely sore. should also mention he's around 73, just had plates and screws in his back last fall)

While that Conversation is going on, the land line rings, it's Dad's Twin Brother, letting us know he was Diagnosed with Leukemia. I forget the Type, but it mainly strikes White males over 65. There's No real treatment for it until the end stages. avg Life expectancy is 15 yrs. To which he replied, we're 68 now, we may not live 15 more years anyway!

Today, Dad's younger brother, Was Scheduled for a Procedure to break up kidney stones w/ ultrasound (A Procedure He's had Done MANY times. He's had stones for years, only has 1 functional kidney after a motorcycle wreck 40 or so years ago that put him in a full body cast.)
after the procedure(Normally Outpatient, but they ended up admitting Him), he was in IMMENSE pain. the drugs they were giving him weren't even touching the pain. after a couple injections, the Nurse said they were at the Limit of what they could give him. not Long after His Breathing Became Labored. The last update i received was that he was Crashing, and the Crash team was Moving him to the ICU.

Hopefully He Pulls Through. and Hopefully this is the end of the bad Streak.

Thanks for Listening/reading Folks. Sometimes you just Need to get things "out there"...

Ill say a prayer for you and your family, hope everything turns around for you all. May we never take good health for granted.

Yes, it does seem it always come in 3's. May our gracious and loving God spread His healing upon your family and may He grant a special measure of peace and strength upon you and your loved ones.

thank you to everyone.

to top all that off, this morning, I woke up an hour AFTER i was supposed to be @ work... FRELL!!!

Oh well.
Uncle Russ (the one with the kidney stones) is doing much better.
I'm going to paste an email my mom sent out, as there is no way i could remember the details. :
(Francis is My Dad, Russ is my uncle, and the author, "I" is my Mom, aka Mary)

" Yesterday Francis and I took Russ into St. Rita’s for what we hoped would be his last lithotripsy to bust up the last remaining kidney stone. After 20 such procedures over the last two years we were confident that this would be quick, and relatively painless morning. He went to surgery at 9:30 and returned to Same-Day surgery at 11:00 – but he was experiencing a LOT of pain, which he had never had before with this procedure. Pills did not touch it...and they tried a few – finally gave him Dilaudid, which took it down to an “8”. He also could not urinate, and almost passed out when they got him up for a walk. At around 2:00 the doc ordered CT scan to see what had happened. Apparently the power they had used to bust up the chunks, also bruised his kidney and there was an encapsulated hematoma visible; a rare, but not unknown phenomena. Doc ordered more pain narcotics to get on top of the pain, and in the process of figuring where that was, his blood pressure started to drop, and he was in overdose mode. By 9:30 (?) they had to call in a resuscitation team, and he was moved from post-op to ICU-Step Down. They were able to use the reversal drug they use w/ people who overdose and bring him back, but his breathing remained shallow and they needed to find out what was going on in more detail.

At 2:30 they called Francis and I because they had put on a I PAP(positive pressure breathing) mask, and with his claustrophobia, he was really anxious and asked the nurse to ask us to come. Apparently one of the inhalation people mentioned to him as a way to convince him to leave the mask on, that if this didn’t work, they would have to intubate him, which set off a whole bunch of red flags for him. So we went back and just stayed with him until 7:00. By that time he was calmer, and all his blood tests, etc were coming back much more “normal” than before. The other bombshell was that he was septic, and that was not apparent to any of us before his procedure. The fact that he was still dealing with a kidney stone and recovering from the last one makes infection understandable, but still a surprise – no temp at all! When we left, he was asking to get the mask off, wants a popsicle and bugging the nurses like the Russ we all know, so he is feeling better. Russ has been so thankful for the excellent medical care he has received and lets them all know how much he appreciates their work on him.
Please pray that this progress continues. God truly had his hand of mercy on him last evening and we thank Him for that. With love, Mary"
