What $850k USD buys in Redding, CA

I drive thru Redding frequently and stay there every now and then, and have one friend who lives there. It seems like all the downsides of California with none of the upsides.

Downsides:
Still fairly expensive to live there over all costs of living
Hot as heck in the summer
Majority of the city council is owned by a cult
Fire-nados

Upsides:
You can still grow pretty good citrus there
Proximity to the mountains
In N Out burger

Yes-planning on going in to Lassen Nat'l Park tomorrow.

Wow, a house like this on 4 acres would cost significantly more in GRR area if in good school district.

And our property taxes are quite high too.

I have spent three days here...trust me there is much poverty.

Have cousins in Redding. There are some really nice areas but much of Redding is overrun with druggies, homeless, etc..... I haven't been there since before the CV19 lockdowns but 10yrs ago Redding left much to be desired.

Great fishing though if you like to spend some time at the water.

We hook up our trailer and leave for Crater Lake this morning. We did have a nice dinner cruise on Lake Shasta last night. But yea- much to be desired in Redding.
