What $1.7 million USD buys in Brawley, CA.

I don't like the home, but parts of the home are pretty cool. I imagine this home has some like features that @dishdude home in Paradise Valley, AZ has.

It appears numerous additions and revisions on this home over the years. Not a buy for over $500k USD in my assessment. But a fun home to informally view on the internet.

Agree. It is like they convert 2 mismatched building together and part of them looks so out of place with the other. I don't know what is anyone going to do with this, like, subleasing it out while living in one of the unit?

Looks like an option if you host guests. The Olympic size swimming pool would be a bear to take care of.

This type of housing arrangement is becoming more popular. This Old House did a remodel of an older house to add just such a structure for extended family. Cheaper to do this than build on a new lot. Allows you to use your own land to help family members with housing. Many municipalities are apparently changing their building codes to allow such structures because of the housing shortage.

On a listing next to the OP link, I saw this "home" that interests me. It's the three car garage - every car enthusiasts dream. Much more affordable at only $90K!

I don’t hate the main house. “Olympic size” pool is a lie, it’s maybe 42’, a pretty standard size pool.

How far to a good hospital or airport? Looks way too far from civilization for me and my Spanish isn’t very good.

That house was nice 60 years ago. Would require a lot of $$$ to modernise to, but might me worth it for the location to someone.

Two hours non rush hour drive from to San Diego. A bit of a cruise, but San Diego and its much larger neighbor to the north have a smorgasbord of top health care options. If you can't afford USA healthcare, a few mile south of the house opens many cost friendly health care options.

Much of the home needs a complete gutting.

The issue then becomes the additions to the home. When floors require a step up/ step down that is a huge negative, and something updating can't ever solve.

At $400k USD, might be a awesome long term project for someone who loves the home. At $1.7 million USD, the home is a "run Forest run" home.

The target customer might be a senior cartel member with a requirement for a safe house across the border. Issue is, the terrain features surrounding the home provide little to no protection.
