What 2 cycle oil are you running and why?

I have been using Amsoil Saber for several years now in my Echo weed wacker. Why? It works well with little smoke and carbon buildup.

I ended up getting some Stihl brand oil but not the higher priced ultra. Its what my small engine guy carried and he said it would be fine for the other non stihl stuff. I have used this before and honestly I cant tell any difference in any of it. A gallon of 2 stroke mix lasts me a pretty good while.

I use either Echo Power Blend semi syn or Husqvarna XP, both have the highest JASO and ISO ratings and are specifically for 2 stroke air cooled engines. They are both easy to find and will protect as well as anything out there without breaking the bank.
The Stihl oil is also a good choice, just not as readily available for me.

I run Stihl Synthetic (Silver Bottle) in a Stihl backpack blower and string trimmer.

It's just easy with 1 gallon bottles and the cost difference between the lesser grades doesn't concern me.

I use the oil that came with my craftsman weed wacker. It appears to work fine in that application. When that runs out I'll use it again unless I can find a cheaper oil. Being they all seem to work the same in my opinion, it's all about price. It all goes up in smoke in the end.,,

I've been running Aeroshell Sport Plus 2 @ 40:1 for all my 2 cycle equipment. Saw a little smoke @ 32:1.
This oil is intended for ultralight and light sport aircraft. I figure if its good enough to fly with, and most aero 2 cycles are air cooled, then I can cut grass, weeds, blow leaves and such with it.
To sweeten the deal it is ACTUALLY CHEAPER than most of the "hero oils." Don't ask me why.
Its aviation grade. Its inexpensive for some reason. Shell brags about its ability to protect the engine internals from corrosion during storage. These are good enough reasons for me.
I think I paid $80 or so for a case of 12 QUARTS. I'll be using it for at least 10 more years.
A word of caution. It has a very weak green dye in it. It is the same color as the green dye they use in modern gas. When you mix it, it doesn't look like a 2 cycle mix. I bought a petroleum dye and add a drop for every quart I mix and it gets real dark and unmistakable. It helps prevent "mishaps."

Echo PowerBlend X. I have both a new Echo blower and trimmer purchased in the last couple of years.

I wanted to try the Stihl synthetic, but as of a year ago it didn't list the latest ratings (required by the Echo manual). I'm sure the Stihl oil is just as good, but figured why take a chance with the Echo 5-year warranty.

Amsoil saber @ 100:1. I use it in a poulan pro 50cc saw, stihl 009 priuning saw, lawnboy pro series, homelight trimmer and craftsman leafblower. Have used for years, minimal. startup smoke nearly. smoke free at operation and super clean burn.

ken

don't be scared of that 100 number. it has not let me down once.

I am the "last" one around still running the defunct Mobil 1 2T and Mobil 1 MX2T full synthetic motorcycle oil.

I am using it on my two, 6 1/2 HP Lawn Boy two stroke mowers + a string trimmer. No smoke, very little odors and it leaves no deposits behind. What else can you ask for. Made for Grand Prix 2 stroke motorcycles, it's overkill in my applications. One of the best 2 cycle oils made. I can't talk ExxonMobil into bringing it back, so I still have 30 quarts or pints of the stuff. If there is an expiration date for this oil, my small engines sure can't tell the difference - they all run as good as new.

I also have part of a quart left from the 2t clearance.

I never could tell the difference other than you had to add stabilizer other wise it wouldn't last as long as mixed stihl oil.

O’Reilly MASTER PRO 2-CYCLE SPORT ENGINE OIL

The bottle says it is "formulated to meet and/or to exceed the rigorous requirements of the API TC, JASO FC and ISO EGD classifications."

It is inexpensive. Smoke clears up completely after warm up.
Specs say Calcium 3533.5 ppm, Zinc 1500 ppm, Phosphorus 1302 ppm.

I suppose it is good enough for my Toro string trimmer, and 2cycle Chinese generator. (really miss MX2t)

Redline Racing Synthetic Two Stroke Kart racing oil. With a dash of Klotz Benol added for that racy smell. Its all leftover from my karting days. I run it at 4.5 oz/gallon in my Echo trimmer and Weed Eater blower. They run superbly.

i finally used up all of my Amsoil 100:1, it was the kind before Saber came out. My Stihl br400 has had a few fouling problems but it still runs strong (bought new in 1998) And my echo srm2601 has been flawless since I bought it around 2000. Both run almost exclusively on Amsoil at between 75-100:1. Both used in heavy commercial use until 2005. I am about to switch over to Stihl 50:1 since I burn only a gallon of 2cycle a year now.

I just bought a bunch of Mag 1 semi-syn. I bought a case of 15.6oz bottles,s o I'll have some for sale soon. It will probably take me 3-5 years to go thru a single bottle.

I use TruFuel 50:1 premix fuel cans. I use only about 3 cans a year at most and never have to worry about ethanol fuel problems. They use a synthetic oil and fuel stabilizers. It is good for two years once opened. Fantastic stuff.
