wet plugs

92 Nissan Sentra auto 1.6
Car won't start. Plugs are wet. Plugs are getting spark when I ground one on a steel bracket.
Used my truck's battery with jumper cables, and starting fluid spray. No luck. Engine doesn't fire at all. Car has a distributor.
Does anyone know why the car won't start?

Joe, try pulling the plugs and drying them off. I've had this happen before and drying the plugs allowed them to fire. Of course, something else is wrong for the engine to flood as it did instead of starting easily.....but try drying the plugs first.

I had a 94 Nissan Sentra. It was a problem that Nissan had, and there was a bulletin on it. I am not sure what the fix was, but mine did it twice in the 170,000 miles I drove it. It eventually started and ran rough until it burned off the gas and was fine. Very frustrating at the time, but I didn't have it serviced. I figured if it made a habit of not starting I would take it in, but it didn't do that.

Thanks for your replys. I did try drying the plugs. No luck. Next step is checking for jumped timing chain when I get my jack stands back. My son(borrowed) them last weekend.

Are the plugs wet from fuel or water? Have a look inside plug hole with torch if you can. Possibly a head gasket leak.

Good news! The symptoms I described are caused by a leak at the rubber air intake duct. Couldn't see the tear at first because it was on the underside.

Car wouldn't fire because MA meter didn't sense correct airflow.
