Wet belt engines

While folks make claims of wet belt designs being the next best thing since the iPad, Toyota has engineered exactly zero wet belt engines. In fact, the notoriously unreliable brands seem to love them. I wonder why that is.

And some that have gone down the wet belt route such as Stellantis with their Puratech engine have now reverted to using chains due warranty claims and the bad reputation that wet belts acquired.

Manufacturers do dumb things sometimes and not just the unreliable brands. Mercedes/BMW adoption of biodegradable wiring insulation in the 1990's is up there with the best of them.
