This is for my 2008 Toyota Tundra 4WD with 158K on odometer. Initially purchased a Moog front wheel bearing/hub assembly but returned it for the SKF. Did I make the right choice and should I just replace both front wheel bearings/hub assemblies with my mileage and be done with it? One of the front wheel bearings needs replaced per my mechanic test driving and his findings.

Is there a reason you returned the Moog? Follow SKFs instructions for installation. The ones I used on my wife's tahoe had different bearings than factory so torque was different.

Your choice of the SKF bearing was the right move. It is likely better than the Moog part if it is made in Sweden or the USA. If manufactured in China, it is probably of the same quality as the Moog part. The only advantage the Moog bearing has is a lifetime warranty on their Problem Solver line.

I'd not replace the other side until it starts making noise. That other wheel bearing might last another 100,000 miles..

With what I've read here and through a sliver of hands-on experience, I believe you selected well.
Overall, it's good you had SKF among your choices.
I agree with running the other bearing 'til it shows signs of aging.
It would sting if, upon failure of the other, SKF were no longer available.
Which side went out?

A dealership replaced both front wheel bearings in a warrantied car when the RF failed.
I was told the failure rate confirmed a bad run of bearings. There, a dealership feel-good story.

OEM Wheel bearing from Toyota is marked $175.83 plus tax. I paid $117.28 total from Rock Auto with the 5% discount and bearing made in Sweden.
Bearing or box is marked Sweden?

Last of these I saw for 4WD Tundra was marked China.

Dropped my truck off at his garage yesterday after work with the part in box. Texted him about 12pm today asking him to look at the box the bearing came in for Country of origin. He said he decided to do the job this morning because him & the wife are heading down to Ocean City Maryland tomorrow for the week. I sure as heck was NOT going to ask him to go through his trash. Are you suspecting counterfeit? I purchased the product from Rock Auto and have full satisfaction in there part sourcing.

The SKF bearing is probably not counterfeit; however, SKF is a global company with manufacturing facilities in multiple countries, including China. As long as their QC program standards are enforced, no need to worry.

SKF Bearing COO

SKF are excellent regardless of COO, they own manufacturing plants in many countries including China for the simple reason they are supplying the worlds largest car and industrial market. All the major hub and bearing manufacturers as well as almost every other major company producing anything you can think of also has plants in China.
Moog and Timken have gotten sketchy over the last decade or so with hubs and bearings "made for" and not "made by" there can be a night and day difference

Yep, plus Made in China is not necessarily horrible. I put an inexpensive no-name in the wife's '08 F150 several years ago and it's been great even with 315/70/17s

For sure generic Chinese is a greater gamble, but here since it's SKF and it's already been installed, I'd forget it altogether. You'll likely get over a decade of service from it, even if built in a Chinese facility.

Please update thread in 2034 :D

Lol, no I was hopeful that SKF moved production from China to Europe!
