Went to buy a new Cruze today....

Suprised they didn't sell you the Cruise and put you in something until they can make the car "safe."

If you really want the Cruise, ask the selling dealer if they can put you in a loaner car until they can get the Cruise sale approved/recall issue fixed, etc.

Because the issue is so widespread, affecting so many vehicles and vehicle manufacturers, all getting their part from one supplier, I'm guessing the availability of a replacement part is going to be a significant problem short term and it may take a while before these vehicles get taken care of.

I really wanted to like the Dart, until I started reading the customer reviews for it...

Chrysler has always made junky cars. Nothing has changed and most likely will not change until they finally, rightfully go out of business.

If you need a car asap, and can't wait, and want an automatic but don't want a DCT like the focus and dart have, I'd say look at the updated Jetta with the new 1.8T. That is probably the best engine in the segment right now.

I've heard that engine is good, but only 170 hp in a turbo 1.8L 4 ? Too low power. Still, not bad.

Anybody buying a new car MUST read caranddriver.com FIRST ! They nail it. Motor Trend a close second, then maybe Consumer Reports.

Nah, we taxpayers can just keep bailing them out as they pump out inferior products. Why should they be better when they know a bail-out is coming?

Go get new Mazda 3 . Motor Trend and Car & Driver rate them best in class .

I hope this doesn't affect the Chevy Sonic too, my dad was gonna buy one this weekend! He is in a rental because his car was totaled. If it does affect the sonic, his second choice is the Nissan Versa.

Hah. I see what you did there.

But I still need a car.

Buy a ford Fusion or Focus, or as someone suggested a Mazda 3.

If I were a buyer, I would be avoiding GM products right now.

I think they have squirrely steering/handling just a tad from a rental car I had zooming up the California coast last year. Car and Driver agreed with that assessment in a comparo.

Yes. I like the Cruze, but hate shopping for a car. So I guess I'm still looking around. I hear good things about the Mazda 3.

I would not touch a Mazda 3 or any Mazda in fact, if you live in Michigan, or the northern states where road salt is used in winter. Salt pretty much dissolves Mazdas from the bottom up after just a couple of seasons, worse than any other cars! Used to see it in Europe a lot too. Just run a google search 'Mazda 3 rust' or similar, and you'll find 3 year old cars that would make you cringe! This probably wouldn't be a problem if you'll be selling in a couple of years.

I'd be looking at a Jetta or a corolla, civic or focus sedan personally

but there are plenty of choices in this genre

I would definitely look at a lower end Impreza as well, bullet proof 2.0 boxer, 4wd and a lot more room for only pocket change more
