Guys,
we went thru a sort of a "mini sand storm" for about 5 min in AZ last week (see pic below). the car had just had its 90k mile service, and the A/F was pretty much brand new...should I change it again? is this of any concern? could the engine have intook any sand? (no strange symptoms, the car runs just like it did before)...just thought I'd ask.

Thanks.

Pretty good photo!

How long were you in those conditions?

I would say if everything is sealed up, you be fine. When you get home, check the load in the (prefilter) airbox and vacuum it out.

5-8 minutes max. @ 50-60 mph

thanks.

No big deal, when you get home you might want to look in your airbox for educational purposes.

Agreed. When I bought my car from Florida seven years ago, I went through it and vacuumed out a lot of sand from the air box.

FYI, the auto industry uses a product called "Arizona sand" for all their contaminant testing. I examined it once, and found it is mainly 3-micron size and less.
