My dad blew through an I pass lane without one on accident. He never got a bill or fine. This was in Illinois and it was atleast 5 years ago.

Remember, they have to x-ref the license plate to the record and bill whoever owns that license plate.
That will take sometimes.
That is why you don't see it right away.

I have never experienced anything unreasonable.

I get a bill once the balance exceeds $10, not before.
I pay online with a credit card.

I have NEVER had any extra fees added.
Just a normal invoice with dates and times,
and what look like "normal" tolls. ($1.35, $0.75, etc)

Must be 10 yrs or more since I did one by mistake at the Tappan Zee Bridge. I'll give it another 10 yrs.

Pick up the phone and call them. Then get an EZ Tag. Problem solved.

+1

My wife and I were in Cedar Park in May and accidentally got on a toll road. I received a bill in the mail today for $2.75 ($1.75 toll fee plus $1.00 for processing). They give you different options for paying. Paid it online with credit card. It did state on the bill if not paid within two weeks the charges go to $17.50.

You'll get a bill. On the bill give the the information that they ask, send it back, they then charge you the proper amount (toll). No big deal, has happened to me several times. Would always happen in my company vehicle, company would give me the bill since they knew who was driving it, from the license plate and assigned truck. I always put my ez pass # on the bill and send it in, done, no calling or anything. Just get the ez pass number, which is on the plastic box.

There is (at least there was last year) but if you call them they will probably waive it if its your first time. /////////may take a couple of weeks for it to show on their system.

I would check the website for the toll company that manages that specific road. They should have instructions for how to pay a missed toll. Most toll authorities are private companies. The mix of their policies and state or local laws means different procedures for different roads.

The only time I got a bill in the mail was from crossing the Tappan Zee bridge in NY, and there were signs saying that would happen, something like "Stay in Lane, Toll By Mail." I missed the cash lane once in Chicago and once locally. For both of those, I found payment instruction online.
