Well, that seems like a waste of time.

Just changed the front differential fluid in my 2012 Acura TL SH AWD. Used 75W-90 Shaeffer, .45 quart.

The oil that drained out was clear, not a hint of metallic particles when viewed with a bright light. Looked like brand new. I did this at 30K figuring it was good to get any initial wear particles out. Not sure it really will do any good.

Have you done at least one drain and fill on the transmission yet? That would be my priority.

oil condition by look is not the best policy.

if it looks bad its usually bad

but looking good doesnt make it good.

Did one drain and refill at 17K, the second at 20K. No metallic particles on the magnetic drain plug at the second drain and fill so I will wait a bit for the third.

Thanks for your support. I do feel a bit better after doing the change. At least I have the peace of mind in knowing the oil looked good and there is fresh, synthetic lube in there now.

I don't think it's ever bad to get FF lubes out soon, and fill with fresh oil.

As you are convinced the lube was in reasonable shape, and you used a quality lube to replace it, then it would likley not need another service for a LONG time.
