I changed transmission fluid this morning,Mobil 1 ATF of course, and welded a boss inside the pan large enough to drill and tap a hole for a 3/8 drain plug. That should help with draining the pan in the future when I don't need to change filter. Will save a big mess.

I'm getting more lazy than I used to be, so even though I've got a transmission drain plug on all the cars I service, I'm considering one of those suction pumps. That would allow me to do drain and refills between oil changes without having to put the rig up on ramps.

Do your cars have transmission dipsticks, or are they "sealed"?

I did the same thing years ago on my GM transmission. I got tired of doing a pan drop every time I chnged me oil. I used to run cheap DexIII and I would change the ATF when I chnged me oil.
