Weird Jeep battery. What am I looking at?

Wires. You're looking at lots of wires.

Looks like a Wrangler 4.0 bay, don't know why there would be a Haldex brand module there. Haldex is the AWD power distribution system for many make/models but not for a 4x4 system on a Wrangler.

I went and looked at her jeep. Holy cow what a piece.

What you're looking at is 2 6V HD fleet batteries in series. Not pictured is the alternator hacked into a "dumb mode" 1 wire running at full blast. Original wiring gone.

Other things of note, it has a tankless air compressor but no lockers. Lightbar is wired with speaker wire.

Pfft, I prefer bare copper wire powering the Christmas lights of my dry , duh!!!

I use basic extension cords only for direct bury runs

I use scrap pieces of Romex connected twisted together and wrapped with electrical tape because wire nuts cost money.

My friend has a Cherokee XJ he is building as a trail rig, it has similar wiring. Makes you wonder what some of these people are thinking when they wire these "systems". He bought it pretty cheap, but I removed an aftermarket alarm system last weekend that had about 100 zip ties and some wood screws holding it into the dash.

2 6v batteries? That’s a serious deep cycle arrangement. I’d be ok with that if done properly, but the alternator is scary. Might it be an aftermarket “1 wire” alt? an alternator wired that way will quickly overvolt a vehicle.

Don't laugh. I have a friend that discovered when she was in the process of selling her home, found extension cords in the attic connecting all the ceiling fans.

I've seen where someone didn't want to spend the money for Romex so they cut up an extension cord and used that instead. That house was owned by a contractor and presumably that was the contractor's handy work.
