I heard someone say recently (paraphrasing): "In your home, never display a picture of yourself with anyone famous unless you are certain they would display the same picture in their home". I like that.I can understand photos with pro athletes……. photos with grimy politicians is just bizarre.
I think the same is said about name dropping. Just this AM I overheard a youth hockey coach say his daughter has gymnastics with Saquon's. That would be like me saying oh my son and Jason's daughters go to the same school. So? lolI heard someone say recently (paraphrasing): "In your home, never display a picture of yourself with anyone famous unless you are certain they would display the same picture in their home". I like that.
I also find too many who seem very content to see you for office visits, then send you off for all sorts of testing etc..... yet after are not so ready to follow up or schedule any procedures one may need. Truly can be very frustrating.Good Doctors are becoming difficult to find these days.
Took my wife to an Ortho appointment . There are several Docs in that clinic . At one point the Nurse walked out in the lobby and announced that Doctor ++++ was running late due to issues during a morning surgery .but had just left the Hospital . His patients could either stay in the que or reschedule . Fair enough I thought . Some woman piped up and asked could they go get something to eat and come back ?The Nurse told her if she leaves , she loses her appointment slot .She wasn't happy about that ...
My wife's Ortho Dr. is a part of a Clinic . Standing room only in the waiting area most days . Same with the Physical Therapy Clinic . Big money in Orthopedics these days it seems .One thing I have noticed since COVID that my doctors (I have several specialists) are all properly scheduled and very few people are in the waiting room as compared to pre-COVID. I think COVID problem caused offices to improve their schedule management.
No pun intendedMy wife got stuck in an acupuncture room. Had needles stuck in her and therapist apparently for about her. Really freaked her out.
It's all baby boomers falling apart. My wife's Ortho Dr. is a part of a Clinic . Standing room only in the waiting area most days . Same with the Physical Therapy Clinic . Big money in Orthopedics these days it seems .
Mostly , but it is a diverse crowd .It's all baby boomers falling apart.
I can easily ignore the "marketing" fluff but nope, 3 hour waits are a deal-breaker for me. If you are scheduling these treatments, they need to adjust patient appointments accordingly. The final strike was a sign saying you can expect to wait up to 3 hours beyond your appointment time due to the complex nature of treatments etc
Didn't think that was a secret and I've been doing it for decades, for myself and our kid's appointments. I just never advertised it !I started doing something a buddy told me worked for him. So far it has been GOLD. I schedule either the very first appointment of the day or the first one after they get back from lunch.
Can understand that as well. Reminds me of a similar circumstance with my wife when I was with her at an OB/GYN appointment. Doctor was running behind on his appointments because one of his other patients decided it was time to have her baby.... The nerve of that woman !!and I totaly understand and don't mind, is the time my back doctor had everyone's appointment running way behind because she had been called to do an emergency surgery.
Some years ago I had a failed knee surgery. It was worse after than it was before. After doing some research I found a second surgeon to try again. Orthopedic Surgeon at UofM. The hallway was lined with photos of athletes with thank you notes on them. That actually made me feel pretty confident. Professional athletes (collegiate also) are huge investments by teams. They usually don't get sent to a second rate surgeon. I'm not sure if politicians are necessarily a priority when it comes to these things.I can understand photos with pro athletes……. photos with grimy politicians is just bizarre.
+1 I dealt with a lot of doctors over the years in my business. Some were great customers, some I wouldn't work for and told them so. I recall one instance where I pulled up to a doctor's house and he complimented my van, I thanked him. Then in the same breath he said: "you must charge a lot and if you think I'm going to pay your auto loan you're crazy." I said: "if you think I'm go to work for you you're out of your mind." I laughed and left. Some of them think they're some kind of God and are high and mighty. LOLThe thing that is the worst is the 3 hour wait. That is INSANE. Why bother having appointments?
I would have told them exactly that.
Sounds like a sports med doctor. They like to have signed stuff around. Ive never seen a doctor offering to sign a book. Thats odd. The 3hr thing would make me consider leaving for an alternativeI’ve been dealing with an ongoing health issue for over a month now, trying to get answers and seeing a myriad of specialist. My latest experience was with a rheumatologist office. I really liked the doctor in the hospital but upon my follow up in the office his senior partner had two of his published books on display in a case in the waiting room for $25 a pop and a sign saying you could get the books autographed by the doctor upon request.
It just left a really bad impression on me. Also he had pictures with various politicians that were autographed and on display as well. I don’t care the political affiliation of the doctor I really don’t but it just seemed tacky. “Hey look at me and who I know.” The final strike was a sign saying you can expect to wait up to 3 hours beyond your appointment time due to the complex nature of treatments etc…is this weird and off putting or am i just irritable?
Needless to say I sought a second opinion.
A three hr wait would be a deal breaker for me...I've waited a bit for a surgeon, but I don't think a rheumatologist would have many emergencies to attend.Yes, but the doctor I saw was a DO. The senior partner (MD) has billboards up with his face plastered all over. The whole thing just seemed off. The appointments running 3 hours late reminds me of the Seinfeld episode with reservations.
Exactly my thoughts. Probably in his office putting his John Hancock on those fresh new books.A three hr wait would be a deal breaker for me...I've waited a bit for a surgeon, but I don't think a rheumatologist would have many emergencies to attend.
