Everything was freezing today to we had to thaw multiple scales at work and I weighted my car to confirm function.

My ford flex weights 5,300 pounds. That is more than most of F150 trims except the super duper top tier super cab 4wd loaded tier.

That is a lot of car even for the "upgraded" heavy duty brake option. Descending down the cornucopia of hills and mostly valleys in the tri-state area really pushes the braking system to its limit.

5300 pounds man that's hard to believe !
My fathers 75 Imperial only weighed in at just over 5000 pounds if I remember correctly.
And that was one huge automobile.

My trim is over 4800 pounds plus let's say 250 for me and about 200-300 pounds in camping and kitchen gear.
I was thinking of trying the EBC yellow pads for fun in the summer and realized that I will probably have to change them as frequently as the oil with this much strain.

Wow. Factory specs put my 1979 Cadillac Coupe DeVille at 4140 lbs. Around 1/2 ton less than your Flex!
About 100 lbs lighter than my '79 Sedan!

Our CX-9 Mazda is built on the same chassis and uses the 3.7 Duratec. It is a porky mother for sure. Does yours use oil on longer or harder driven trips? Ours always has and oil usage went down as I went to thicker oils. One thing for sure, my savings account is about $4000 lighter due to the dumbass internal water pump failing 68000 miles apart!
