I have a downspout off my garage that I want to run a good distance away...
HD sells 10' sections of ADS pipe, but Id like to get the water further than 10' away... Simple, right?
ADS is super cheap, flexible, tough enough, and the black color is not an issue where Im putting/routing it, which is why Im using it over something else...
Well, the couplings on the pipe leak. And so since its a downspout off of a fairly large garage, it dumps the water at the coupling versus where I want it to go, at least under light rains.
I could buy a 100' length, but for $69 at HD, when I really only need like 20-25', Id rather not waste the money (I think the 10' lengths are about the same per foot price).
So, is there such a thing as a water tight ADS coupling? Ive looked at Furnco but they seem to be for transitioning to PVC. I read that there is such a thing as a coupling with a neoprene gasket, but Ive not seen them.
Ive thought about duct seal as an option too... might be cheaper/easier...
Thoughts or recommendations? My read is that since ADS is often used underground, the dirt packing around the pipe helps with ensuring that the pipe is the path of least resistance, and any other leakage isn't a big deal.
But Id like to route some water as desired, especially given the lack of rains that we've been having and the desire to keep our garden producing.
Thanks!
