2002 Camry 4 cyl. 117,000 miles. I don't have any noises or leaks from the water pump as yet. Coolant has been changed on time with Toyota red & distilled water.

Removed the serpentine belt, grabbed the water pump pulley by hand and tried to wobble it side to side (9 'O clock and 3 'O clock positions... )
  • I felt a very slight play/wobble on the pulley. Is this normal?
  • It seems to spin fine without any grinding although not as free like an alternator pulley. I don't know if it should though with coolant not drained.

Thanks

If its not leaking or grinding, I wouldn't replace it. But, if it were one driven by a timing belt I'd replace it without question.

No timing belt in this motor. it's external and driven by serpentine belt.

And any comments on Beck&Arley water pump? it's about $20 cheaper than AISIN (@rock auto) and available at local parts store.
