You should be familiar with the mostly positive comments about GMB then. That's the cheapest pump I would put on a vehicle. Some people will choose it over Hepu.

It's hard not to put an Aisin on a Volvo since even dealer mechanics often say don't bother preemptively replacing the Aisin-made factory pump until 210,000 miles. But I was surprised when reading some Honda or Toyota forum where people were bashing Aisin pretty hard for failures.

It's a critical component that is usually a pain to replace so why take a chance to save a buck?

Absolutely.

My Grand Marquis is literally the easiest application I've ever done a water pump replacement on. Asian applications, like my Mitsubishi, it takes a substantial amount of time to get to and even if there is nothing wrong with it, if I'm doing a timing belt, the water pump gets replaced.

Last three ones I put on were Asin, made in the U.S. Wasn't too bad at $72 vs. $183 for OEM. I wouldn't use something else like a GMB, for instance, that doesn't come as a complete assembly - you have the pull the pump off the front of the housing and reuse your old one.
