Water in new oil

Every time I see this thread when checking the HDEO forum, what comes to mind is "that oil may not have gone through an engine, but it's definitely not new oil anymore."

If you leave a barrel of oil outside even with the cap on it, and water collects on the top of the barrel it will pull water and contaminants into the barrel as it expands and contracts with the outside temp. CATERPILLAR has very stringent requirements to keep oil clean before using it, One such requirement is store on its side with the lid at the top or cover the barrel. There is no other acceptable storage arrangement. Right or Wrong that's the policy printed in their operation manual.

OK, I will try to take a picture.
I know the "original owner" who used to run the boatbuilding company which went into bankruptcy, he confirmed that it´s the correct oil. Ther was another guy buing it and some other stuff from the law firm in charge of the bankruptcy, that is the guy I bought it from.
It may once have been the correct oil but is now Contaminated.

I would not run it in any engine.
