Had a close call with a truck cap that blew off a truck just ahead of me, next lane over, driving same direction, about 70 mph. Very windy day, came out from an underpass and the wind shear ripped the cap right off. Cap missed my car by about 3 feet. Fun times.
I had a pickup in front of me at 80 miles per hour and the lid of a large Yeti / Coleman / Igloo type cooler came off and was twirling in the air 30 feet above the highway.
Luckily I was able to speed up and avoid the lid hitting my windshield.
We had a jet ski w/trailer situation a few weeks ago.
Driving to work on I-95, wife and I are talking, I started hearing a grinding noise, like maybe a big chain dragging on the highway. Eyes searching around and I see a truck pulling away from his jet ski
We're in a construction zone so there are concrete barriers everywhere. I'm keeping a solid eye on this jet ski and found my exit options from the lane I was in (2nd from the right). The front of that trailer went right into a barrier and sent the nose to the sky and then it started rolling. Dart to the lane to my left. Somehow, no one was hit by or hit the jet ski.
Had I not darted into the next lane, I'm pretty sure it would have smacked us right in the passenger door.
You know what's ironic is not even a year ago and probably half a mile away on the same road a guy with road rage (I'm assuming) was trying to pass on this two lane with no median, blind curve etc. Anyways the guy is side by side with the car in the other direction and probably 5ft into my lane. Still not sure how I managed to scoot over fast enough to not have a head on collusion. Luckily it had wide shoulders.
