"Was" is the operative word. I wanted to downsize from 2 to 1 car. The 18 Forester XT gets horrible mileage but is only driven 7K miles per year. It Currently has has 50K miles and the Extended warranty is good until Oct. of next year. The cvt is guaranteed until mid 2028. The Mazda CX-30 only has 5K miles on it and so we will likely not be looking at repairs for a while. But the other issue is that the wife loves her xt and will NEVER want to get rid of it. In addition she really did not want to go to only 1 car. Done deal.

Probably even with the cost of insurance it is a financial win keeping both cars. And really its not an issue bc pushing 80 we are pretty good financially. And in the retirement home we live it we are guaranteed to be taken care of no matter what. This change all came about bc my pocket watch collection has cost me about $2K in the past 6 months lol so I HAD to do what I did. Even though it is un necessary I will get the CVT oil changed in the near future. The one subaru dealer wants $500+ to do it and Subaru specialists will not do the XT for some reason. Also, I will continue to treat the intake valves with the CRC stuff. I do it every 7K miles. In addition, I had subaru do their treatment once.

So-What was the original motivation to do this in the first place?

Also-who gets your money when you pass on?

I have two car loans right now....I'm 68 my wife is a few years older. Why? Because you can't take it with you and my kids are going to do quite well no matter the late model cars I own.

And I thought this was going to be a stealership bash about lowballing a 2 car trade-in. Darn.

You can sell the Mazda to Carvana and drive the Subie or won't she let you?
Yea...............another one. Don't buy new cars...only Crown Vics and beater Hondas and Toyotas are the only way.......
