On my way to NY, I was given a warning in PA, close to Philadelphia on I-95 for failure to use a turn signal when switching lanes.

The trooper let me go with a warning, but never gave me a paper copy of the warning or anything to sign.

Was this a verbal warning or is this warning documented somewhere? If documented, for how long in PA?

Sounds like a verbal warning. But wth, he seriously pulled you over because you didn't use a turn signal before changing lanes?

After switching lanes, I saw him in the distance catching up in the first lane and I was in the third lane. He paced me for a while, both doing 55 mph (the posted speed limit) after which he got behind me, turned on his lights and pulled me over.

Maybe the maneuver was suspicious as he was asking me where in Baltimore I was coming from and where in NY I was going while being very close to my face with his head inside my car.

I assume he was smelling me for alcohol. I was very polite, answered all his questions and apologized for not using the turn signal.

After running my info and me providing him with my license, registration and proof of insurance, he came back and said "I'll let you off with a warning."

its the law.

Thank your lucky stars it was a verbal only. Pennsylvania, like many states, has such a huge budget shortfall that they are scrapping for dough anyplace they can find it. You're lucky.

Here's a tidbit for ya. If you're ever on I-80 in West to Central PA, the State Boys will let you get away with about 70-72 in a 65mph but anything over that is asking for it. Go 70 to be safe.

Thanks, I usually take I-95N to NY and take exit 67? to US 1N to avoid NJ turnpike toll. Then I get onto Gothels or Outer Bridge and I'm in Staten Island.

I've found a way to avoid tolls in MD, DE, and NJ turnpike to get into NY.

I liked the NJ Turnpike, at night, it is pretty empty and easy to set the cruise at 77ish. The worst is the Garden state pkwy where it goes through Newark though, that area is a disaster.

A friend of mine was pulled over late at night on the interstate and the trooper said he was doing 67 in a 65 zone. That's about what my friend thought he was doing. My friend said his first instinct was just to laugh, but he played it cool and got let off with a warning. The police were just fishing for a DWI late at night.

Yeah, I once got pulled over in a small town for doing 32 in a thirty. A friend of mine got pulled over for 28 in a thirty. It's pretty absurd what some of these jokers will try to pull.

I actually got pulled over a couple months ago on my way home from work, because at the time the steering on my car was loose for some reason (result of a fluid change) and the road was empty so I was a bit close to the center line, and apparently I went over it a bit, I had recognized the car behind me as a crown vic from the headlights, so I was doing exactly the speed limit, and he flashed his lights and I pulled over, he said he was just looking for drunk drivers etc etc. No problem.

When I switched lanes, there was no one behind me or in the lane next to me.

If there was someone in either lane, I would, will and always signal.
