I have a rigid WD14500, it started to suck at sucking. Cleaned it up looks like the motor is getting weaker. Found replacement motor and it costs just as much as a brand new rigid shop vac.
I think this is my fault. I think at one point it may have sucked up too much water too many times (my fault flooded basement and panic).

Are the new cordless shop vacs comparable in power?

Some tools still do better when on a cord when you need to use them for a longer time, this is definitely one of them, none of them is coming even close for more than a short time. JMHO

Cordless are really only good for light work IMHO.

My DeWalt 120V canister is plenty strong, motor strong, but when suction is diminished - it's always something in the air path, clogged vac hose, filter, exit, full can (ie I need to STOP and clear/clean). I am surprised the motor itself is weaker on yours.

What battery platform do you have now? Gonna be really difficult to match the power of the WD (6HP) and capacity with a battery powered one unless it uses several batteries together. EGO has a 9 gallon on their 56V platform, but don't know how "powerful" it is in comparison to the Ridgid. Probably doesn't come that close.
