I want to try Amsoil in my new truck. I want 5W-20. When I go to the Amsoil site they have a lot of oils listed, the only 5W-20 is XLM- XL 5W-20. Is this the one to get for a daily driver F-150 ?

Thats the only 5W-20 Amsoil offers, the XL 5W-20. However I would also look at ASM 0W-20 and SSO 0w30 oil.

XL oils are 7,500 miles or 6 months
ASM is rated at 25,000 miles or 1 year
SSO is rated at 35,000 miles or 1 year

You can use a 0w-20 in place of 5w-20. The oils are still a 20 weight, regardless of the Xw rating. That only means it passed a Cold Crank test with certain specifications.

The oil choice will depend on your planned OCI and yearly mileage.

Here's what I recommend:

XLM 5w-20 - 7,500 miles/6 months.

ASM 0w-20 - 12,000 miles/1 year without a used oil analysis.

XLM 5w-20 - 7,500 miles/6 months

This is the only API approved oil among the suggested ones; i would stick with an approved oil as mentioned in your owners manual.

Using 0w-20 Amsoil in my 06' Saturn VUE 3.5 that calls for 5w-20 and am using it with confidence. -16F this morning, VUE in an unheated garage, fired right up with 0 bad noises. Seems to warm up faster than before too.
