Hello all,

What's a reasonable interval for Walmart's supertech full synthetic high mileage oil? It's in our high mileage Lexus and Honda?

Thanks

Drew

The owners manual's recommendation for severe service is a good starting point. If all else fails, 6 months or 5K has never failed me.

Depends. 3k according to quick lube, 10k according to the book for my '14 RX, 7.5k according to the Jeep, and 5K according to the 07 IS. Run some "by the book", test it and see if it has life left. Rinse and repeat. That's the safe bet in my book.

The interval the mfr says to do

Most recent Hondas have a maintenance minder that calculates the right OCI for your driving conditions. You can follow it with confidence

Also depends on the cleanliness condition of the engine. You don't want to stir up too much. Little at a time.
Only you would know that..... how to space-out the OCI. Be safe - not sorry!

High mileage Toyota product? leave it in as long as you want, that's what many owners do while under lease.

I do piles of highway driving so I wouldn't feel bad about using to 10k. Shorten as necessary for cold starts and whatnot.

FWIW I err on the side of 5k for my wife's Camry due to many cold starts. Plus it's just easier to remember when to do changes (on the 0's and 5's), along with tire rotations. Although I missed the last 5k and so this OCI will be 10k. Meh, it won't care... My two Camry's have ST in them, although the older one runs with conventional.

FWIW I buy OEM filters online, $40 gets a case of 10 with crush washers included.

It also depends on the engine.

Ford 4.6 liter 2-valve engines can run that oil to 10,000 miles pretty easily and never have a problem.

Nissan V6's can't do that.

What ever you've done with other oils or whatever your manual calls for

Supertech!! The OCI should be the round trip distance back to a store to get a jug of > and replace that crap!

LOL.

Its just as good of an oil and any other. Run your normal OCI.

For the last 4 years I've been doing tires every 3,000 miles as with older more tired suspension, I get perfectly even wear. So tires and oil every time is easy to remember but a waste of oil. 3 for tires and 6 for oil seems too much for the oil. Taking the two off of a matching schedule complicates things and irritates my ocd-ishness. I've considered 4 and 4 or 5 and 5

It's funny / the maintenance minder that's been on both of my odyssey's did not account for the massive amount consumed by the awful VCM feature. At least 1qt/1000. Shut that down with 96 ohms of resistance on the temp sensor circuit and now I don't use a tablespoon in 3,000

I am gentle on my cars and they've been well cared for. 6,000 on the SuperTech Full Synthetic is safe? Cause the. I'll stick with 3 tires 6 oil. Other wise 4 and 4 seems fair

Around 6k is very safe and 7500 if its mostly highway miles.

Just make sure to check the level every 1k and keep it topped off.

6K too much for the oil? Are you driving 10 or less miles each trip?

No, all though we live 0.3 from my mom and 0.2 from my gramma and my stay-at-home-mom wife does that short trip often. soon to move 10 miles away - we bought a new house - but that new house 1.5 miles form church, so there are 2 ridiculously short trips per week. Drives me nuts to know the car never fully warms up. I make a conscious effort to avoid that, though. Her car has been 3,000 mile changes all until literally this oil change and I can still bail at 4,000 and do the tires, too, and go with tire/oil every 4,000. My lexus gets drive 150 miles per day over several trips, and its only just been put on the 6,000 mile interval with tire rotations at 3,000

I am using Denso filters. Knowing the above, 6,000 isnt too much? also, where we live, there really is no city driving element. Its all 55mph roads with miles in between stops, until we get to shopping areas, but even then, its 55mph on the way home. Never is either car regularly subjected to stop-and-go.
