Has anyone ever made high wages working at a retail establishment? Ever? I remember working retail for minimum wage in high school back in the 1960's. That was in the days when SS Kresge opened K-Mart. Looking for high wage jobs at a retail place is a waste of time.

wal mart is not always the best price around but as long as the oil is cheaper people will shop there if its only a little cheaper they will not be bothered shopping there.,. If the auto parts stores want to see a lot of oil they should lower their prices!

There is always something on sale at the part stores, though they don't put everything on sale at once. Instead of fuming about WalMarts low prices, I would question why other stores don't adopt the "always low price" policy instead of fiddling around with the sales.
I personally like to patronize all stores. Walmart can be a savior when you need some brake fluid or motor oil past mid night when all other stores are closed.

I would guess they have sales in order to draw you into the store (perhaps at a loss or very small margin) so you will buy something else. I can't imagine the corner auto parts store is able to sell at a price lower than or even equal to Walmart and still make a profit.
So if you (and me too sometimes) only go in there to buy oil that's on sale, we're probably doing more harm to the local economy than buying at Walmart...

I know what the cost is on Mobil 1 0w-40 for my local Chrysler dealer, and CT is making a decent profit margin on the stuff, as is Walmart, assuming that they are buying it for even less. Even when CT has it on sale for $9.99, they are making money on it.

Other thing that really chaps my rear; is that the wal mart 11 miles from me has a HUGE selection of Pennzoil Conventional, Quaker State Conventional, Quaker State Ultimate Durability and such. One wal mart 4 miles from me has none of this! What gives?!
