Walmart Super Tech - has it been discontinued?

That would require American companies to forgo selling their products to those willing to pay the most. I’m not opposed to that necessarily (in the name of national security), but it would be a tough sell to the oligarchs here.
It doesn't require that at all. They can sell wherever in normal times. It just ensures supply if scarcity raises its head. Successful business leaders have supported the production of semiconductors here, for exactly the reasons discussed.

"Oligarchs." LOL. Interesting use of that term. Sounds political. :sneaky:

It is the truth. Many saw this coming as far back as the 1990s but there was and is not one thing we could or can do about it. All we can do is hang on for the ride now.
For sure, fact and truth!

The reality is none of us would like the price of any items if the US was completely vertically integrated. Yes, this thread is about availability and price of an item with short term supply pressure, but long term worldwide availability. I have worked in manufacturing for ~30 years and I am deeply concerned about the long-term viability. At the end of the day, it is about customer choice.

My wife has a pretty important Dave Ramsey saying she uses... People tell you what is important to them by how they spend their money!

Big oil has been that since crude became part of the commodities market...there's nothing political about it...

I think grampi knows what he is talking about. There are several things that should be a priority to be made here or at least have the capability to do so and since oil is a major strategic item, there should be a priority for it. The same goes for some of the most important medications to mankind, antibiotics. Many are if not all either wholly made or main ingredients made in other countries and in those that are not the most trustworthy. There are things that should be if the utmost importance made here, forget about a global market.there are some things that are of utmost importance and many don't seem to care.

I don't think anyone is against or disagree with that at all.

Never heard of Super Tech oil? Is it something new to the market?
It was new around 25 years ago and was sold at Walmart under a different name prior to that.
It's equivalent to other store brand oils, like Kirkland from Costco.
Is it equivalent to name brands?
Probably not, but like Kirkland it is cheaper.
For the small savings involved, I just go name brand.
Not as though saving a couple of bucks buying a store brand oil is going to impact our retirement travel.
