WalMart strikes again, M1 5W-30 already opened, no foil seal. Tested too thin

Of course, I don't have the receipt but I'll try to return it anyway.

I am in the middle of an oil change, go to open up the 2nd of my 5 quart jugs of M1 5W-30EP and find the cap seal is broken and 100% of the foil seal is gone.

To compare the two jugs, I noticed they smell different, and a drop of oil from each of the 5 quart jugs placed on clean paper shows very different drip rates. The good bottle of M1 drips down slowly, the other quite fast. They are both the same amber color.

From now on, I may purchase the 12 quart box of oil with spigot. I don't think scammers can swap out the oil in that quite as easily.

I should have checked.

What kind of toilet skid mark goes through all the effort of buying a cheap oil and higher end oil then pouring both out then swapping it and driving back to the store to waste their gas to then waste time in those long return lines and get a refund for it? goodness I hate some people.

Some sales should be final. Ammo sales are at Walmart. And the return desk and auto center staff should be trained all oil returns are considered used oil returns and will be immediately marked used and a line drawn through the barcode. Not that it wont stop dumb employees.

This happened to me but luckily it was only 1 quart of Mobil 1 from AAP. Used oil inside.
It sucks but there’s dirt bags doing stuff like this.

I’ve heard from a guy that worked at Home Depot people return home paint (gallon) cans filled with water.

You should name the specific Wal Mart. Good catch, but what kind of human garbage are we living with?

Ever since these reports started showing up, I now always check each oil bottle in store before it goes into cart or basket, oil level compared to another 2-4 bottles, color, how clean the bottle is, whether cap was tampered with. On one occasion I opened a bottle in store to confirm it had good fresh oil and then I bought that opened bottle.

Truly crappy result. Too many people seem to feel that they deserve something and others don't matter. I suggest returning to cutting people's hands off for theft - and this is in fact theft - in this case the returner stole from Walmart and they stole from you.

If you happened to use a credit card they will have your purchase in their system - so hopefully you can return.

I prefer now - based on all this - to buy the 3 pack online. First it comes directly from a warehouse - here at least. The box is glued top and bottom as well. So not impossible to spoof, but obviously a lot more work for the would be thief.

It does seriously suck that you can't pick up a jug of oil without having to be concerned about it being used oil returned in the new oil container.
It would never occur to me nor to most people to pull this sort of scam.
Maybe a few of these people could be busted and prosecuted?
Yeah, it's only a misdemeanor, but the cost to the perps would greatly exceed the benefit and would serve as a cautionary tale to others so inclined.

I just had to deal with a cheap fram filter put in my endurance box and it took an hour to get it returned. It’s always in a hurry when they get you

Please get this imposter oil analyzed so we can try and figure out what it is.
I was able to return it, using the same credit card. I explained my concerns and asked the Customer Service lady if this is common and she said no, then gave a knowing smile....

I should have saved a Blackstone sized bottle. I am guessing it is the very cheapest Supertech oil on the shelf.

The open jug of oil was considerably thinner, as I mentioned. It also did not form a brief string between my fingers as the real M1 did.

Maybe an employee doing it. Switch it out with supertech but get mobil1 in the supertech bottle. I worked in a store and this girl switched like aqua net with designer hair spray lol then bought the aqua net spray with employee discount

I've been buying 98% of my oil online from Walmart for many years. One time about 5 years ago I did shop the store and find a 5 qt. jug with a missing seal. I tilted it enough to see that it contained used oil. Placed in on the floor and mentioned it to the cashier. The line to speak with the customer service/return desk can often be crazy. Tons of money order buyers to presumably send $ home.

This situation is created by low life Walmart shoppers, not by Walmart.

As a golfer, this reminds me of people that switch expensive balls like ProV1's, into a box of bargain cheap balls. It happens way too often.
