That's what I think.

Incorrect. Millions of people use the AR platform rifle for target shooting or hunting. Every single one of them are also anti tyranny rifles. We get it, you live a bubble wrap life. You've never seen tyranny, probably dont know what it is, and dont think it could happen here. Well it can. And it will. ALL Governments become tyrannical. Every last one of them. Go back in history and every, single, govt has always become tyrannical, in time. The USA is getting closer and closer to that day. It seems far fetched to you, but it's true.

Nope. ANYONE could also describe American soldiers over seas. If you limited them to shotguns or pistols, they would die by the hundreds. Because they would be outgunned by people with rifles. Rifles have a legitimate use for protection. They are more accurate, they are easier to shoot, they are more powerful, among many other traits.

That is EXACTLY why the public should have access to them. If the Jews in Germany had access to the same MG34 and MG42 machine guns, in large numbers, as the Germans had, don't you think that the holocaust would have been a lot less costly for the Jews? Or how about the protesting students in Tiananmen Square? Or the entire subjected population that is now under ISIS rule? The population should the same firepower as the police and military. The founding fathers realized this. They were much more educated and smarter than you are.

No hunter needs these to kill game.

I think you are confused. You seem to believe that the 2nd amendment is there to preserve the right to hunt. News flash... the 2nd amendment is there to hunt... TYRANNICAL GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS. Pull your head out of your brown stinky thing and read a few history books. Your lack of basic history is nauseating.

I'm glad I don't live this way.
And I do own a gun,I am just not a fanatic about it.

Afraid? Let me offer this. Before I met my wife, she lived in an apartment, in a sorta bad part of town, in a pretty dangerous city. She wasn't scared to go about her daily life, but she was well aware of the criminal element. She slept with a baseball bat near her bed. She never really slept that well, because the area she lived in was fairly high crime and she knew she would be pretty defenseless against a determined attacker.

Than she met me. I was confident. I wasn't afraid. I slept like a baby. I wasn't scared of the living situation. The same living situation that made her uneasy. The difference was, I had a gun, and was well trained in its use. I had no reason to be afraid. My house was well protected.

She wasn't anti-gun. And she certainly wasn't pro-gun, she just didn't know anything about them and didn't really think she needed one. She asked to go shooting and to get trained, and to buy her own gun. And her life has been changed forever. She could now live in that environment comfortably and not be worried about her personal safety anymore.

The gun gave her piece of mind. It gave her safety (real safety, not a cell phone to dial 911 or an alarm system, that also just dials 911)

The entire argument (what are you so afraid of) is non-sense. It's a child's argument, using a child's logic. It completely, utterly, makes absolutely zero sense. To say I'm afraid would be a fallacy. What have I got to be afraid of? In all actuality, the intruder/attacker/robber is the one that should be deathly afraid, as they have chosen a person in their victim selection process that is incredibly dangerous, trained, and highly efficient with weapons and tactics. I will offensively destroy anybody that attempts to harm me or a member of my family. Fear is what cowering anti-gunners must feel going about their normal lives.

Oh please...high powered? Responsible? Start with a dash of arrogance, mix with a bit of condescension ("but you wouldn't know anything about that"), and Massachussetts myopia and you have an awfully narrow persepctive on things...

For the record, My father was a Red Sox season ticket holder. We visited every week when I was in high school. I lived in Massachussetts for the 4 years that I was in college. My sister went to college in Mass, then lived in Boston for 6 years following college. My son goes to college in Cambridge.

I know the state quite well...and your post above represents the worst of the Massachussetts experience.

Do you always attempt to belittle those who disagree with you? Is that your idea of "inclusion"? To "include" only those perspectives that you like?

Such a closed mind...

That is a pretty common theme with a certain sect in society. Shout down others who have differing opinions, claim that your opinion is superior due to your education and supposed intellect.

A fighter pilot is going to call out others for being arrogant. How much dope do you smoke? You have or had a high powered job. Funny as much as you hate liberal mass you spend megabucks to send your kids to college here.

And boo ho ho. The guy keeps telling me I'm "baked". Its pretty easy to tell by someone's posts when you're talking to a hamburger flipper. Im supposed to worry about his feelings.

There definitely is a connection between lowlifes and extreme guns. I've had family like that and its not pleasant to be around them. They've been waiting for the race war all their life.

I'm going back to the oil pages now.
We just have to disagree on this.
No big deal.

I am not "afraid" of any of the above. I am just smart enough to know what the anti's agenda is as they have tried time and again to take guns away. This is public record and not some fanatical rant. Failing on total bans they are now working to do it a little at a time.

I also would like to be able to defend myself should the need arise. I wonder how many people who are attacked or have their home invaded have the same attitude you do who then wish they had been more prepared after? I would say the vast majority. I don't expect it to happen and know the chances are slim it ever will but I am prepared if it does. That is all.

Firearms ownership is very important to me. Hunting especially is a huge part of my life. And before you jump in and try and claim no one wants to take away guns used for hunting let me assure you that is false. I have owned guns that have already been attacked in the past and had the laws past would have been illegal. These are guns I used while hunting often. I see nothing wrong with being concerned that anti's are trying to take that away from me and thus doing what I can to make sure my rights are preserved. I imagine you would feel the same on something you truly cared about.

I am not a fanatic about owning a gun. I am an average US Citizen who owns some guns and enjoys using them. I have committed no crimes with guns or without. Our right to keep and bear arms is guaranteed by our Constitution yet the anti's continue to try and take them away from us. I am tired of being blamed for the acts of a few unstable folks and also of having something I cherish be under siege all the time.

So what is this gun you supposedly own? Make, model, type, etc...? Squirt guns don't count.

It can be, but it isn't by people who understand the difference. The best way to get it right is to remember a magazine may be loaded from a clip, but not vice versa.

A magazine is simply the means by which ammunition is stored and then fed into the action/barrel. It can be a fixed part of the firearm such as the magazine tube on a pump or semi auto shotgun or it may be removable such as the clip on an AR15.

Removable magazines are generally called clips which is my point. I know what they are. Not sure what you are trying to prove here?

When you show a person a clip, and then a magazine (like I have for nearly every other gun in the safe) then they instantly get the difference. Even my youngest daughter understands the difference.

People who misuse the term really don't know much about guns. They may own guns, may even use guns...but they don't know much about them...

They're akin to 95% of the drivers on the road...they own cars, even use a car, but they just don't know much about them...

A clip is simply the term for a removable magazine. I don't know why people are trying to make this so complicated? It really isn't.

As I said above all a magazine does is hold and feed ammo into the gun. It can be fixed or it can be removable. When they are removable it is legit to call them clips.

The clip on your M1G is just one style of clip but it is not the only style. The only real difference between that M1G clip and say a clip for a M1911 is the M1G clip is inserted through the top of the gun and on the M1911 it goes into the bottom/grip.

That's the thing. What's a dangerous scenario? It could mean anything to a backwards/backwoods person. They may feel threatened by just seeing another person.

Stop projecting your terror of an inanimate object on others. It is unseemly.

I'm wondering if you've ever been outside of Massachusetts? I have and there are some scary people out there. It must be a natural law. The scariest ones have the most guns.

Hahahahahah Someone from Mass talking about how scary those in other states are. Man that is a hoot. Thanks for the laugh.

That may be true but are you truly trying to say everyone who owns a gun is a thug or hood? I find that extremely offensive. I have never committed a crime in my life with a gun or without( ok - one speeding ticket when I was 19 but that is it ).

Your comments are typical of the anti gun crowd [censored].

Yep, fighter pilot. Tough job, demanding job, not an easy job to get...

Never said I had a "high-powered" job though...I'm just not that arrogant...

And only lowlifes have extreme guns? Geez...stereotype people much?

Going to ridicule folks who believe differently than you while you're at it? Tell us all how they're "clinging to their bibles and guns"...or is it OK, in the world of political correctness, to ridicule and stereotype people that think differently than you?

By the way, only one kid is getting educated in the People's Republic of Massachussetts...the other one finished her undergrad education in Connecticut...my home state...
