I have Walmart pay set up on my phone but I almost never use it. This morning I was distracted by my dog before leaving for work and forgot my wallet. I was running very low on gas and had planned to stop and fill up near my office 40 miles from home. Pulled into the Circle K and realized I had no wallet. DOOOOH!!! What to do??? Then I remembered the gas pumps at the Walmart neighborhood market near my office accept Walmart pay. Pulled in, scanned the QR code on the pump with the WM pay app, and filled up. Crisis averted!

I did the same thing a few months back. Not as dire as I just left my wallet in the truck but still didn't have to go back out and get it.

I use it exclusively. No need to hold onto paper receipts in fact they don't even give you one if you use walmart pay. All your purchase history is saved in the app (yes in store too).

I have the ExxonMobil gas-app on my phone … Does points too …

Most everything we pay for now is using our phone or our Apple Watch. Just so convenient.
Love the Sams Club gas pumps for the same reason as the Walmart App. scan and go.
Actually in the store, we scan our own items with the app too. No lines no waiting in Sam's club.
I haven't tried that with the Walmart app yet though.

I use my credit card and get paper receipts everywhere because the Google Opinion Rewards app gives me a few cents each time the app asks me to scan a receipt of somewhere I've shopped.

Is this Walmart's way of getting around Visa CC fees? Looks like it still connects with CC but there must be some saving having their own app.

Was in a similar situation at the Costco gas pump and realized my wife had my Costco card. Opened the Costco app on my phone and there was the QR membership code. Didn't miss a beat.

I keep a few dollars in my car console just in case.
As a social experiment (that I would never actually do), I would like to have seen what would have happened if I asked random strangers at the Walmart for gas money. I bet someone would have given me a few bucks once they realized I actually needed the money for gas. Folks are generally pretty charitable around here, especially if someone is actually in need.

I soooooooo wish Costco would get with the times and do this. They could, but for whatever reason choose not to.
Yes, I’m quite surprised.
We shop at both Sam’s Club and Costco.
Even the Costco gas pump is a pain and I’d rather go to Sam’s Club because I just scan.

Without question, though we like the products better in Costco, however, Sam’s Club has a couple items that we prefer. Mostly for my wife, wild caught salmon and tuna.
Overall, we prefer Costco

As I noted above you can "just scan" at Costco too, but it takes two scans. You might even be able to load a payment card onto your Costco membership card but I have not done that.
