What is the intended application of the oil? Wal-mart Supertech full synthetic can perform well in a variety of engines.

just get the Quaker State Ultimate ,its good oil ,what viscosity are you looking for and application?????

Something is off in your vague phrasing. Which products are you referring to? Please include a photo of each jug so we can see which oils you're asking about.

After receiving a PM from the OP, I now understand he was asking about the options offered by the Walmart car maintenance service dept for the oil change packages/options they offer on Walmarts website.

My answers are below...

Walmart isn't providing much oil specific details on their service webpage, but if the Full synthetic is Valvoline or Supertech... Valvoline is good. Supertech is good enough.

Quaker State Synthetic is normally referred to as Quaker State Full Synthetic. I think it's the same stuff, even though Walmart didn't include the word "Full". Quaker State (Full) Synthetic is good stuff.

Personally, I think Quaker State Synthetic is better than Supertech Synthetic, though Supertech is good enough. A friend of mine had a Jeep that lasted 410K miles using Supertech. So it's good enough.

Of the 3 brands that I'm aware of Walmart Service Dept likely using... Valvoline is very good. Supertech is OK. Quaker State is good bordering on very good.

I personally use and prefer Valvoline and Quaker State oils.

I recommend Quaker State Synthetic oil change package for $46.88 if you car has under $75K miles. If it has over 75K miles, then I recommend the High Mileage Oil change package, which will probably be Supertech High Mileage (Full Syn) oil, or Quaker State High Mileage Full Syn oil. Both are very good oils. I prefer the QS HM FS oil over Supertech HM FS, but both are good.

Valvoline Maxlife HM FS would be the next step up in a HM oil (IMO) but I don't think you'd get it at that price. You don't need it anyway because the Supertech and Quaker State HM FS oils are good enough.

I recommend asking for a premium oil filter, even though there would be an upcharge. A Supertech premium oil filter is (I think) called a Supertech Maximum Performance oil filter.

Choice of oil doesn't kill engines nor shorten engine life enough to matter, but choosing a low quality oil filter can damage or destroy engines. Spend the extra $5 or whatever the extra charge to get a Supertech Maximum Performance filter, or whatever they call the best Supertech filter.

I use NAPA Gold filters, but you're at Walmart. So ask for their best quality Supertech filter. Supertech is a Walmart storebrand.

Good motoring! 👍

Is English a second language with the OP and why he contacted you and not post clarifying?

Do you have anything to support this statement? Examples of low quality oil filters that damaged or destroyed engines?
I've seen several examples of low quality filters failing (usually bypass valve issue, or antidrainback valve issue, sometimes media tearing or just coming apart). Those things didn't do those engines any favors. Even if a low quality filter doesn't fail, it still doesn't filter very efficiently. All this is common knowledge at BITOG.

Beyond saying the above, I don't need to defend what I said any further. It's common sense, common knowledge, and there's plenty of others here who can defend the value of having a good oil filter, if it needs further defending.

High quality oil filter, filter mag installed, magnetic oil drain plug installed. Filled with drained used oil ran through coffee strainer…..hmmm🤣
Why are you making fun of me? I reused oil with less than 50 miles on it, strained through 2 layers of cheesecloth by my certified mechanic. So what? That vehicle went 410K miles without a rebuild. So what are you making fun of? If I needed to do it again, next time I'd use a coffee filter as recommended by another member as being a better strainer than cheesecloth.

I don't know why you're trying to discredit me. I've done nothing wrong. I just tried to help the OP. Also, all the stuff you mentioned is off topic to this thread anyway.

In post #6 I politely said he didn't provide enough info for me to understand what he was asking.

So he PM'd me more details and said a moderator had deleted his full explanation from the OP (which included a link to the Walmart oil change options service page he was comtemplating and asking for advice about).
Is the OP even still on the board?
Probably not. You and some others made him feel very unwelcome in his first post and first thread. I think you and some others ran him out of the forum. Try not to feel too proud.

I wouldn't still come back to BITOG again if I was him. The OP of this thread was his first ever post. He told me a moderator deleted the part of his info that would have helped us understand what he was asking about. Then a bunch of senior members said he didn't provide enough info. At first members were reasonably nice about it, but then some senior members started having an ugly accusational tone toward the OP, which grew from there.

Early in the thread I politely told the OP that he hadn't provided enough info, but I was reasonably nice about it. So he PM'd me to explain his questions in detail, including a link a mod had deleted from his OP. So once I understood his questions, I helped him in a PM reply and then posted that same info to the thread in post #8 so everyone would understand what his questions were. Obviously in hindsight I should have only replied to his PM and not posted the info publicly. I posted it because I thought you all might want to know what his PM was about.

In that post, I diplomatically omitted mentioning that the moderator had deleted the info from the OP that you all needed to understand the OP's questions. But then several of you started jumping all over me and the OP more than ever because I hadn't explained that the moderator had deleted the crucial info you all needed.

The OP got the info he needed from me and probably won't return to BITOG again after the way he was treated in his 1st thread. I wouldn't return if I was him.

Congrats to those people who belittled and condscended to the new guy about his first post and thread. 👍 Way to go!

Also, thank you @Glenda for belittling me for helping the OP. 👍 I've always liked and respected you and thought you're decent. I may have to reevaluate.

I realize that initially no one had enough info to help the OP or understand what he was asking, but you did know it was his 1st post. Is it really so shocking that a new member hadn't yet filled out his profile? Is it a reason to post negative things to/about the new member?

You could all see that I made an honest effort to help the OP. Is that a reason to belittle me or try to discredit me Glenda? If you had better advice for the OP, why didn't you give it to the OP? After my post #8 you had enough info to be helpful (if you wanted to be helpful).

I couldn't explain more info any sooner than I did because my smartphone was broken down most of today. I certainly didn't expect to return to this thread to see this nasty conduct toward a new member or towards myself for trying to help the new member.

@Wwilson would like to grow the forum, which means getting more members, which means getting new members and keeping them (not running them off). Is this how new members are treated? Is this how a person trying to help a new member is treated?

This is not the first time I've seen this conduct from longtime members. It's becoming too common in recent times. Normally I just leave nasty threads with nasty people behaving badly and don't say much about it, if anything; but this was a new member's first post and first thread and likely his last. I doubt he'll return to BITOG. I think some people in this thread are proud of themselves for running off a new member. So this time I'm speaking up. There's too much needless nastiness happening too often in too many threads. It's usually the same clique of longtime members bullying and belittling others. Doing it to a new member was a total lack of decency.

It was a joke. Sorry, please don’t take it personal. I have a problem of calling em like I see em sometimes.

When I was very little my parents were poor(ended up doing very well) so my siblings and I shared bath water. I promised myself when I grew up and had money I’d never share oil.

Assume OP’s chosen name is a derivative of Walmart synthetic …
Perhaps he got all he wanted from the PM …
It’s not unusual to see someone who signed up years ago with a very low post count - not everyone hangs out here often …
