Happened to be in the local Walmart and saw the 5 QT. jugs of PP for $23.50 and PU for $26.50. Both of these were SN oils.

Good price?

Yes, it's a good price......it's about as cheap as you'll find it unless a parts store has a sale on them, which I'm unaware of at the moment.

I think next month it is Pennzoil turn to be on sale. You get 5qts plus a atleast Pure 1 for $28. That is the PP. The Ultra may come with K&N at about $33 Either way Advance is a bit better IMHO

i agree, Pennzoil Platinum / Pennzoil Ultra isnt my oil choice, but i agree its a better price when you figure the filter price, i usually buy edge with a bosch D+ for $33, and the filter alone sells for nearly $15 regular price, doing the math its a good deal IMHO

Good prices for those oils; is WW the best place for find the lowest priced OTC oils, not IMO. Many regional medium box stores have better sales from what I have seen.

For those who don't maintain a stash, and buy oil as they need it, Wally typically has the best everyday prices on oil.
You can do better by paying attention to the Rebates etc forum on BITOG, and by buying at least a little ahead.
That same $23.50 jug of PP could have been had for $5.00 after MIR in the summer of 2009, for example.

Walmart is the only source for the inexpensive 5qt jugs. You only get 1gal jugs everywhere else and they cost MORE than Walmart a majority of the time. Unless your getting 5 single quarts and a filter deal elsewhere Walmart typically is the winner. Sometimes Walmart has oil on clearance or on special then you stock up. Otherwise Walmart lets you get away with not needing a stash. I was able to score 5w20 PU quarts for $4.00 at a Super Walmart, thats a GOOD price! Cheaper than getting 5qt jugs!

Wal-Mart usually has the lowest everyday price on oil and filters. Sometimes auto parts store have oil+filter sales that beat W-M on price.

Last few times I went to AAP, I saw printouts on the counter saying they were soon to offer 5-quart jugs. If you can get an online coupon code to work with oil (which isn't easy), that's the way to go. Otherwise, it's Chinamart.
