Some form of racism???
No, some form of nationalism maybe....
Might be good to read the article I linked too.

It probably wouldn't even make business sense for Walmart to sell a lower quality drug even if they could do it, because this exact same thing would happen, they'd lose business when people find out and people eventually do find out. Same theory as those that think Mobil 1 at Walmart is different than ones at another store, but they won't spend any money on a used oil analysis to prove it, because it hasn't been.

Also the location of where a drug is made is hardly germane to it's potency. Is this some subtle form of racism?

As for the theory that "you get what you pay for" when it comes to drugs doesn't really hold water. When Epipens were $100, did that mean they were inferior now that they're $600? Or is it just the drug companies jacking up the price? There's also a saying that says a fool and his money are soon parted.

For example, I have to pay 8 quid 50 pence for 100 Ramipril 2.5 mg tabs in the UK (It's a real good blood pressure drug) because I'm classed as an ex-pat in the UK (It's free in Germany).
I ran out in the US last year and that cost me 90 usd for the prescription AND another 60 usd for 100 tabs in the cheapest pharm I could find.
That's 150 usd total for getting one non OEM (No idea who made it, as it was just a bottle and label shop) very common drug!
Last time I got caught short of a valid prescription (No one would accept a German or UK prescription).

Not sure if Wally make any drugs themselves, although they might be major stock holder in a few drug companies in Mexico or China.

You're talking about a completely different healthcare system. When talking about Walmart, we're talking about the US here. That phrase has no meaning here. If it were really true, then Walmart would be out of business because they supply goods at some of the lowest costs in the country as they're the biggest retailer. Everyone would buy their stuff instead at the small mom and pop place that does a tiny fraction of the business that Walmart does and therefore has to charge 2-3x as much because they don't have the volume, not because the quality is 2-3x better. Clearly that's not the case.

Also Walmart is a retailer, not a conglomerate, they're publicly traded and I don't recall ever hearing that they own any drug companies, and according to this, they don't:

Also Walmart uses McKesson as a source of their generic drugs. They're the same people that supply drugs to about 1/3 of all pharmacies in the US. So going to a different pharmacy nets you about a 1/3 chance of getting the exact same thing.

What a brilliant post, Pops.
You need to have all the patients in the cancer ward do some jumping jacks and pushups so that they can all be cured and we can shut down those money pits.
Geesh.

If Wally own stock in a drug company like the one you list, they do not need to declare it fully. Their records would list when they buy and sell stock, as would their tax returns, but not much else.
Worse still if they do list McK as their drugs company, there is nothing to stop that company owning other drug companies in China and India in particular.

In the end you have no way of knowing who is making the drugs. Same situation in the UK, BUT not in Germany, where every drug I used was made by a German, Swiss or UK company and was labelled with the company concerned, mostly Bayer for non prescription drugs.

I have been getting my prescriptions at Walmart for the past five years. I find the pharmacy I use a model of efficiency. I even told the head Pharmacist that I would only wish the rest of the store was run like the pharmacy.

I traveled around the country and as I needed refill over the 7 months my wife and I traveled-the prescription would be "transferred" from one store to the next as needed with out issue.

It's actually pretty easy, at least for non-drug stuff. When the end of lot comes along, change the program, parts, build instructions, you name it. Same production line, same workers, but different product. Look at automakers. Rental grade vehicles go down the same line as highly optioned vehicles.

It's really not that hard to do, if you build that into the system from the get-go.

You're not making much sense. You have absolutely no proof that they own any drug companies. You are in the same position as anyone else who could claim they also own airline companies and auto makers. It's not there in the 10k. Do you know how to read one?

If they're doing business with another company that they don't own and that company owns drug companies, then they don't own drug companies. You can usually tell who's making the drug simply by looking at the label.

I have no doubt the drugs you use are good, but I don't believe they are stamped with anything.
