Maybe you should be a consultant with the motor oil blenders to access all these group 3 base stocks you claim are abundant in the US….you seem to know something no one else does. You could name your price!

Crude quality matters. Looking at the aggregate supply of all oils/quality is the wrong approach. Refining capabilities is a different story as well.
Also, it has already been said in this thread, but there is a shortage of certain products, namely Group III base oils. You're only getting a fraction of the demand from US production.
Probably some of that on the retailers side (been mentioned why in situations like this), but not the main reason. Need to hear from who the question was directed to. Think a lot of people really don't understand how finished motor oil is produced.

Panic buying frenzy from consumers who believe these phony news articles has caused the supply chain to slow down ever so slightly. And prices of motor oils are not up much at all.
Walmart might very well be but I rarely shop there. I only see my local supply outlets and the price is within a few bucks of what it was months ago.
From members here reporting on price across the country, they are up. Even Amazon prices have increased. What supply chain are you claiming hasn't slowed down. Did you read the article in post 65, and all the other discussions in this forum on why motor oil prices are up ... apparently not. It's mainly the finished base oil impact of what's going on in the middle east.
The mark-up at the local auto parts stores is typically so high they can eat some profit loss to not lose sales. Sellers like Amazon and Walmart are going to better reflect the cost to the retailers, and the cost to the consumers.
^^^ I'm surprised there are that many Frams left on the shelf since no Fram filters have been manufactured for months. Either those are low volume odd-ball models, or that Walmart doesn't move a lot of product like some others do.
That's more oil than I ever see at Autozone or O'Reilly. I laugh at people who won't buy (the same) oil from Walmart, but when you look at the amount they stock, they clearly sell a lot of engine oil.
Nearby Walmart had more Fram filters than I expected to see too and while I don't know a lot of common part numbers, I assure you they had no PH1A, 3614, 6607, 7317, etc remaining. I'm confident they are oddballs, which WM knows they're not big movers so I'm surprised they're not moved to the clearance section already. They're on the top shelf, removed from the 'premium' eye-level shelves too like shown in the picture.
Both my Walmarts have plenty of oil. Very little Dexos licensed. PUP 0W-20 is $40 a jug.

Same, my Walmart has some fram and supertech filters left but none of it is common. I did pickup some FE filters a month or so ago for less than half price, but air filters for common vehicles i think are gone.
SW Ontario Walmart today, no 0W20 Penn Plat Synthetic in stock, the choice I made was Valvoline 0W20 Full Syn High Mileage which was a steal because the shelf said $49.98 for 5L jug, but the checkout scanner said $39.98 so I was upset there were no more 0W20 to steal !!
The SuperTech 0w20 Full Synthetic was $34.98 and they had stock but I didn't want to use it today. The inventory of oil filters was pathetic, with just 8 Fram's and no SuperTechs at all.

My WM seems to be fully stocked, but prices are up 8-10 bucks a jug. WM.com had Valvoline MaxLife for $25 shipped for some reason, so I bought that.

How much did that used to be? I thought it was around $30 pre-run up in price.
