Walmart M1 bottles and jugs - why different?

Around here, Walmart M1 in gallons or 5 qt jug are no longer stocked on the shelves, but the qts are. Sign indicates to see an "associate" who will obtain stock and take payment.

Anyone know why? Are jugs stuffed in someones pocket and walked out the door while the smaller qt are not?

No other brand gets this treatment, just M1.

It's likely to conserve shelf space since the bigger jugs take up more of it. I'm dying to see if we can get the 0w-40 in jugs at the wm locally. I've only seen pictures of them,kinda like Bigfoot.

Maybe there's a scam going on there where people open the bottles without breaking the seal then put used oil in and return it, or associates are putting cheap virgin oil in M1 jugs.

There are no 5qt jugs of M1 0w40. There are 5+ qt jugs of M1 0w40 available at places like AZ, AAP.

what bugs me is that my local Walmart only stocks the 0w20 in 1qt containers. 0w30 and 0w40 come in 5qts

WM here finally got the 5W20HM jugs,and has a spot for the 0W40 jugs,but not stocked yet.

Oh what faux pas. Nobody puts M1 jugs in the corner!!!

Seriously though, I have no idea why they're doing this, other than maybe to save shelf space as the previous poster mentioned. Why not ask someone at that walmart?

Which store? I saw big jugs (of Mobil 1

) at Walmart in Kearny Mesa last week.
Of course, no 0W-40.

I bought a M1 5w30 jug. Went to use it next day and it was used oil so the scam does happen.

When I first started using PP I thought that was the case, then I realized Pennzoil products are not sealed with anything like the M1 jugs. Never really thought about it before the M1 jugs and the nasty styrofoam seal that has me awake at night wondering if some went into the engine. But I suppose upon return the thief banks on the clerk having no clue what to look for.

I'm pretty excited about that, too. I'm surprised Overkill hasn't read this and scheduled a trip for the US with a U-Haul.
