Dropped by Walmart to pick up some Reflex wiper blades (normally ~$15 per, on closeout for $4), and I noticed that they are either out of a lot of oil products or are facing products differently:
Mobil 1 5w30 & 10w30 5qt jugs are now faced in one row only.
Mobil 1 5w30 & 10w30 1qt bottles are now faced in one row only.
Mobil 1 5w30 = room for one case on shelf; no room for 10w30.
Mobil 1 Extended Performance produts (all weights) now are faced in rows of four for 5qt jugs, with similar ratios for 1qt bottles and cases (I didn't count them though).
Mobil 5000 = Lots of shelf space (three rows)
Mobil 7500 = One empty row (out of my product (10w-30) for two visits now).
Castrol Syntec 5w-20 and 0w30 not on the shelves and no room for them either. Hmmm...
Prices are still holding the same on the products I buy (Mobil 1, Mobil 7500 & Syntec Blend), so that's somewhat good.
Now I know this "facing" issue might just be due to temporary shortages, but the Walmart I shop at just remodeled the auto section a month ago and I'm wondering if this is a permanent set-up for them (wish their remodel team had left the shelf charts up like they usually do). Also, Advanced Auto looked pretty picked over in reference to their mid-to-high priced oils (same goes for filters). Maybe people are just doing a lot of oil changes since winter is coming on...hope so.
