Walmart for oil change?

I wonder how many people change oil in the Walmart parking lot? I have seen what looks like people living in RV in Walmart parking lots. All part of "the people of Walmart.

I typically change my clothes after I am done with an oil change before taking the vehicle on a test drive. I get dirt from driveway on my clothes from lying on my back and sliding under my vehicle. Basically want to keep the vehicle seats clean. Not sure how it would go changing my clothes in Walmart parking lot. But guess I would just be another "the people of Walmart".
In my younger day when I was thinner in a pinch I could get under a car with no ramps and change my oil.
IF I had no place to change my fluids I may would have quickly used a Walmart parking lot but no ramps, cardboard to protect the pavement and I would dispose of the oil and filter properly and I would try and be under the car and done in a flash...

In the 80's my touring hotel lounge circuit top 40 band ( Boy, those were the fun days ) band would change the oil in the rental box truck in the Hotel parking lot with no issue...

I kinda practice you do what you gotta do but with respect.

The oil change in the parking lot of a business is odd to me. I guess property rights are secondary to oil change needs to some. I mean what if somebody pulled into your driveway started doing an oil change without asking. How ridiculous would that be.
Have you ever watched the show Roadkill? When they used to go on long road trips they would often do all sorts of work on the cars right in the parking lot of the auto parts stores. The stores didn’t mind one bit because they were often spending hundreds of dollars on parts from them.

I think that if it weren’t for the liability issue, that it would be a good idea for auto parts stores to have an area right next to their store where oil changes were allowed, maybe providing the ramps and the drain pan for instance. Of course this will never happen 🫤

Before I retired , I worked for the power company . We were doing some upgrades in a substation that was located in an older residential neighborhood . Some guys were doing a transmission swap on one of the side streets right across from the sub . Had one lane blocked . Very little traffic though . I think they even borrowed a couple of sockets from one of my guys . :p
