Walmart EverStart batteries longevity?

My Everstart Max is 6 years old and I’ve kept it replenished with water with its two removal caps. It sits in the cold down to 0 F frequently. It can stay at 12.2 V when above freezing. I often see Everstart Max batteries that are made in Mexico. Mine was made in the USA.
Good point. When I go to Walmart, will look where it's made and try to get one made in the USA.

So the $120 Everstart Maxx are the way to go then.
Is the MAXX only $120 ? I thought Walmart had (3) tiers of battery - Value, ???, and MAXX. The mid-grade used to be around $99 so if it's $120 now, I wouldn't be surprised. The MAXX were in the $150 range. I have a mid-grade one, I thought, in my car and paid around $100 for it.

I must be thinking about their AGM batteries being closer to $150-ish. I have a MAXX-24F in my car after all.

It depends on the particular group size and the time of year, during the warmer months they seem to put them on further rollback and during the winter they're more likely to jack them up. There's 4 tiers, The Value which tend to be $50-80 depending on group size, the Plus with the 2 year warranty that tend to go for around $100, and then the Maxx which are like 120-150 depending on group size but I've seen them dip around $100 during the summer months before. They also have the platinum AGM in limited sizes they're 150-170 depending on the particular group size.

I've been buying the Maxx group 65 for a couple vehicles. Lasts about 6 years.

Bought one last fall, after some wowfresh promo code, ended up around $105 after tax and core refund, WHICH THEY SCREW UP IF YOU BUY ONLINE. If you buy it online, they add the core charge to the tax amount and have no way to refund core (at my local store when I brought in old battery) so have to call 1-800-walmart to get a CSR to issue a core refund.

I have three Everstart Maxx's in my vehicles now. All Fords. They were installed in 2012, 2014 and 2016. I would say that's pretty good. I plan on getting an Everstart when these finally stop cranking the engine.

Look for online Walmart rollback pricing. The stores will not tell you about those sales, and can not match the price at the store if one of those sales is going on. But if you order online you can pick it up at a local store after ordering online and pay at the store or in advance online.

I got a new 24F MAXX last September that way for $88.00 + tax and refundable core charge.

I would recommend the best one NAPA has. I've got one and it's been real good.

Stay away from O'Reilly batteries because I've tried two and they were both low voltage.

What kills the batteries is the heat. Relocate it out of the engine compartment if you can.

I have been using walmart batteries for more than a decade, and have never had one last much more than a year past the warranty - that includes all 3 lead acid tiers. I haven't tried their AGM.

In fairness .I don't wait till there dead, I have a tester and test them properly and when they drop past the reocomendation points based on CA and internal resistance I replace them. Also we have a lot of heat here which is likely hard on them. All the ones I have had were JCI batteries. I wish they had the East Penn locally at WM but they don't

My local Walmart stocks are Korean, have not seen US made there in about five years. I have not discovered any foreign battery that pleases me.

IMO battery life in part depends on the time which has elapsed between the initial charge and purchase date. Become familiar with the how manufacturing dates are displayed and aim for 3-6 months old. AGM batteries are better but a little more $$.
I always figured the round sticker was month and year (edit: month and year!) but yesterday 3/30 I bought one at WM with a 4/23 sticker. Not sure how I was buying a battery built in April of '23 on March 30, 2023.

Maybe I'm like "The Traveler" from TNG....

I won’t be buying anymore Ever Start Maxx batteries. My experience was from the Johnson Controls era. 13 months on the first. Warranty claim and replaced with another. It lasted 16 months. I had no expectations of another lasting much longer and replaced with a Motorcraft.

We had three in a row fail on us. Two right before warranty was up and one right after. Finally we gave up on those and only buy Interstate batteries now. I understand there are only a few manufacturers but each place they make them for has different quality standards and what they want in a battery. We’ve never had the Everstart Maxx battery last past three years. We were tired of fooling with warranty so we just buy Interstate and haven’t had any problems with those. We had an Interstate last us 10 years then 8 years and currently have them in everything except one car so that’s what we will continue to buy and not waste our money on the Walmart batteries any longer. And Walmart didn’t want to warranty it if we didn’t let them install it each time. I think the guy was making it up but he said that was the company policy but like I said I’m sure that’s made up. We just choose not to buy them anymore.

I don’t think I’ve purchased a battery (except new car) from anyone except Walmart in the past 30 years. None of those batteries have ever gone bad in five years. All have lasted longer, some more than others of course.

The trolling motor deep cycle battery for my 16 foot jon boat is a Walmart with a 2013 date code. I haven’t gotten it out yet this year, but as of last year, it would still hold enough of a charge for a full day of fishing. I figure that battery doesn’t owe me anything at this point.
