LMAO!

Whenever I go to the automotive section of Wal-Mart, it's pretty much dead and abandoned. I'm always the only one there.

Really? At the one in Montgomery, IL there is normally one or two people in there. But it's always the same story. It's people standing by the oil, looking at them, using what they know about how to be an informed shopper and applying that to motor oil. It doesn't work very well while standing there with all the marketing on the bottles.

WalMart oil section always has one or two people walking -around- it, at the Service Desk. The Oil people sometimes come and look, and you can just SEE it.. "Hmmmmmm."

Look to Quaker State, back at Pennzoil, back at Quaker State, back at Pennzoil. Is it me? Do you want Mobil? Mobil 1 says Superiority. Look at M1, back at Valvoline, back at Mobil, back at Valvoline. Valvoline has Full Synthetic high mileage, surely that is superior. Turn around, look at Castrol GTX high Mileage, back at MaxLife Full Syntnetic, Back at Castrol GTX High Mileage. Whats that? Whats that you hear? Royal Purple peeks at you from its two rows on the wall. Look at the wall, look at Royal Purple, look right and see Mobil 1, look left and see PYB. Look at Royal Purple on the wall again, look to the tight and see M1 in 15W-50, look to the left and see PYB with 40% Sludge Cleaning ability. Youve made the right choice. Im on a horse.

Anyone that has seen that Old Spice commercial will find that

im sure.

Ive come to be rather afraid of the WM Oil section, as every time i go in there i can get anything from SuperTech for $10 for 5 Quarts to Rotella T in 10 quart Jug to $28 Castrol Edge, IIRC... and i always leave out with a question, for an oil for my car, which i dont even have anywhere near close to me.

I was picking up some parts at a local GM dealer last year. I overheard the parts mgr telling a worker to run up to WM and pickup a couple cases of Mobil 1 5W-30. He emphasized, do not go to CarQuest, its too expensive. He told him, I just called xxx and he has the set aside for you and to stop in the office to pu a check. And make sure they do not charge you tax!

+1 WM matches the marked-down price of the 1 remaining quart of MaxLife i saw while tidying up the aisles at KMart last night just before punching out after store closed.. Autozone or Advance have the same product for $5.29, its not $4.99 a quart anymore.

Thats a big huge difference.

at my local walmart i see independant garage owners "shopping" for oil a couple of times a year. you can always tell who they are because they have a whole cart full of mobile one and maxlife. were talking like 30 gallons.

Not MY Wally...the oil selection is pitiful. They're been out of MC 5W-20 and PYB 5W-30 jugs for over 2 months now, along with ST Dex VI. Each time I've asked about it I get told it'll all be restocked by "Wednesday"...of course they didn't say Wednesday of what month. and that was 3 weeks ago.

My last time there I was being very indecisive as to what oil to run in the Subaru. Advance & AutoZ had their specials and I was trying to figure out if it was cheaper to buy the oil at WM and the filter at the parts store vs. the auto store oil/filter deals.

Had a father & son w/ the son being at least 30+ cruise up and start talking the prices being higher here than other WM. I agreed and we got into a discussion about OCI's. The father went by the manual for his truck which with his driving was at least 5k miles on conventional. I told him I plan on my wife's car running 7500 miles with synthetic. He seemed happy that he wasn't alone in those thoughts. His son chimed in he was a straight 3m/3k miles person. The father kept telling him to just follow the manual. I chimed in or OLM if you have one, they aren't just for show.

It was a refreshing conversation...only because I was alone. My wife yells at me because she knows I like giving advice.

I quote..."People will do what they want, stop trying to change their oil for them!"

OK I have an update.. my KMart has MaxLife for $4.99 a quart and Castrol GTX Blend for $5.29 a quart.. same as AZ and AAP. Just no 20W-50. They have Syntec too.. yup you guessed it, $7.49 quart. ONE 5W-50 left.

Glad 5000/6000-mile OCI is OK!! :good:

KMart brand is "Pro-Spectrum" or "Spectrum Plus?"
